July meetup celebrating flight-free trans-Atlantic travel

July meetup celebrating flight-free trans-Atlantic travel

Thu, Jul 30, 6:00 PM
From Flight Free Travellers

A meet up in London for people interested in flight-free travel. Please join @flightfreeUK and @notjetset for a social event, pub night, and conversation about climate-friendly transportation, at Bow Street Tavern in London (37 Bow St, London WC2E 7AU), Thursday 30 July, 7pm. We will hear from Parke Wilde, a US-based academic and co-founder of [flyingless.org,](http://flyingless.org,/) a petition to reduce academia's flying footprint. Parke has traveled across the Atlantic on a sail-powered freighter for 19 days (a long way to come for a draft beer at a London pub). Come share your flight-free travel stories, hear other people's stories, or just be part of a group of like-minded travel enthusiasts. A few ways to RSVP: email parke.wilde@gmail.com email info@flightfree.co.uk click 'attending' but NOTE: this event will appear full once 10 people have confirmed. Don't worry, it's not full – we have booked a room for around 30 people at Bow Street Tavern. Double-check by email if you're unsure! You are encouraged to eat and drink to help reach the minimum bar spend :) The menu is here: https://www.bowstreettavern.com/food-drink

JULY BOOK CLUB: How to Retire By Christine Benz

JULY BOOK CLUB: How to Retire By Christine Benz

Tue, Jul 28, 5:30 PM
From London Non-Fiction Book Club
4.9

We will discuss the book **How to Retire** by **Christine Benz**. Here is the book: [How to Retire on Amazon UK](https://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Retire-lessons-successful-retirement/dp/1804090697/ref=asc_df_1804090697?mcid=d6233f83318f3440988bfb7c2b1e0ee8&th=1&psc=1&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697292583740&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13386710938871733712&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9192800&hvtargid=pla-2294189720148&psc=1&hvocijid=13386710938871733712-1804090697-&hvexpln=0&gad_source=1) Many of us spend decades building careers, raising families, planning for the future, and striving for financial security. Along the way, we spend a great deal of time thinking about questions such as *"Will I have enough?"* In *How to Retire*, Christine Benz explores what makes for a rich and meaningful life after work. Drawing on research, expert insights, and real-life experiences, she examines topics such as purpose, identity, relationships, health, adventure, and personal fulfilment. The book challenges the idea that retirement is simply the end of a career and instead presents it as an opportunity to intentionally design the next chapter of life. Whether retirement is years away or just around the corner, this book invites us to think beyond pension pots and investment returns and consider what a truly well-lived retirement might look like.
