Career Accelerator
Fri, Sep 18, 11:00 AMYour degree got you this far. Now it’s time to turn your potential into professional momentum. Breaking into the job market can be difficult. You may have the qualifications, but still find yourself wondering: \- Why isn’t my CV getting results? \- How do I stand out without years of experience? \- How do I build confidence when networking? \- What are employers actually looking for? \- And how do I prove what I can do before someone gives me the opportunity? CAP Summit is designed to help you start answering those questions. Join us for an interactive, career-focused event built for graduates, early-career professionals, and ambitious job seekers who want practical guidance, stronger professional confidence, and a clearer route into the career they want. ## What to expect This isn’t an event where you sit and listen. You’ll take part in practical activities designed around situations you’re likely to face in the real world — from introducing yourself confidently and joining conversations to understanding how to position yourself more effectively in today’s job market. You’ll explore: • Networking & Confidence — Learn how to approach people, join conversations naturally and make a stronger first impression. • Career Positioning — Understand how your CV, LinkedIn presence and professional identity influence how employers see you. • The Experience Problem — Discover ways to move beyond “I need experience to get experience” and start building evidence of what you can actually do. • What Employers Look For — Explore the professional behaviours and competencies that help people get hired and succeed once they enter the workplace. • Practical Career Direction — Leave with a clearer understanding of the areas you need to strengthen and the next steps you can take. ## Discover the Career Accelerator Programme You’ll also be introduced to CAP — the Career Accelerator Programme, a structured 12-week programme designed for people who are serious about building a career, not simply finding their next job. CAP combines professional development with experience inside a live business. Participants work on real projects, receive weekly one-to-one feedback and develop across seven professional competencies. The goal is simple: give you the skills, experience and evidence to compete for the career you actually want. ## Who should attend? CAP Summit is particularly relevant if you’re a: 🎓 Graduate trying to break into the professional job market 💼 Job seeker struggling to stand out 🚀 Early-career professional looking to accelerate your development 📈 Ambitious individual who wants practical experience rather than another certificate If you’ve worked hard to get where you are but still feel stuck, overlooked or unsure what your next move should be, this event is for you. ## Come ready to participate. Meet people. Practice. Ask questions. Challenge yourself. And leave with a clearer idea of what it takes to move from qualified on paper to credible in the workplace. Places are limited; reserve your place at CAP Summit today.

School of Docs: Graduating in Technical Writing
Thu, Sep 17, 5:00 PMTechnical writing is a discipline which calls to people from all kinds of industries and backgrounds. People in software and API developer roles, product managers and hardware engineers have all found themselves graduating into tech writer roles, but what about people who’ve literally graduated with a degree in this discipline? This September, Write The Docs London is proud to present **School of Docs: Graduating in Technical Writing**, which sees [Dr. Ann Marcus-Quinn Ph.D](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ann-marcus-quinn-22aa883/), Associate Professor in Technical Communication and Instructional Design at the University of Limerick and [Gareth Brinn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/gareth-brinn-389740197/), MA and Documentation Manager at Gravitee give presentations on taking – and making – the scholarly route to technical writing. Speaking remotely from Limerick, Dr. Ann will open the event, and will discuss UL’s online Graduate Certificate programme in Technical Writing and the MA in Technical Writing and E-Learning, how they both were developed and structured. Gareth Brinn will then give his talk, ‘Five Years, One Discipline: From MA to Documentation Manager’ about his experiences earning his Masters qualification, and then working at Gravitee, how formal training holds up against product work in a professional environment. This event is kindly sponsored by [MOMO Kombucha](https://momo-kombucha.com/) **🗒️ Agenda** **When:** Thursday, 17 September from 6:00pm **Where:** Unity, SE1 0LH **What:** **18:00 - 18:30** Arrival **18:30 - 18:45** Welcome & Housekeeping **18:45 - 19:15** Part 1: Developing a programme and university degree for technical writing **19:15 - 19:45** Break **19:45 - 20:30** Part 2: Five Years, One Discipline: From MA to Documentation Manager **19:50 - 20:00** Q&A **20:30 - 21:00** Networking **All times are approximate.** **📍 How to find us** Look for WTD signs and friendly organisers at the venue entrance. ✉️ 1st Floor, Unity, Union House, 182-194 Union St, London SE1 0LH 🌍 Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/VMydeU7iNErTxpYi9 🗺️ What3Words: ///strut.noted.kept **📸 Photos** Please note that organisers may take photos during the event for the Write the Docs London community.
