Brew & Brainstorm: Design Thinking for Sustainability

Brew & Brainstorm: Design Thinking for Sustainability

Sun, Oct 25, 1:00 PM
From SustainAbility Berlin

**Brew & Brainstorm: Design Thinking for Sustainability** Got a sustainability question you can't stop thinking about? An idea you'd like to test, or a challenge from your work or daily life? Bring it along. Brew & Brainstorm is a relaxed, participant-led coffee session. **You set the agenda.** There are no slides and no lectures. Just curious people, good coffee, and conversations that actually go somewhere. **How it works** ☕ **Arrive & connect (10 min):** Grab a coffee and meet the group. 💡 **Share your topics (10 min):** Everyone writes down one or two sustainability topics they want to explore. These can be climate, circular economy, fashion, supply chains, green careers, everyday habits, policy, or anything else. 🗳️ **Vote (5 min):** The group picks the topics with the most energy. 🔄 **Design-thinking rounds (2–3 x 15 min):** For each topic, we use simple design thinking steps: * *Understand:* What's really going on? Who is affected? * *Reframe:* What's the core challenge? * *Ideate:* What could we do differently, as individuals, organizations, or communities? ✨ **Takeaways (10 min):** Each person shares one insight or one action they'll try. **Who should join** Anyone curious about sustainability is welcome: professionals, students, entrepreneurs, career changers, or people who simply care. No expertise is needed, only an open mind and a willingness to share. **Why come** * Meet like-minded people in a small, welcoming group * Explore the topics *you* care about, not a fixed agenda * Leave with fresh perspectives and practical ideas * Help shape a growing sustainability community 📍 Café Neundrei, Monbijouplatz 2, 10178 Berlin ☕ **Please note:** We're hosted by Café Neundrei, so each attendee is expected to order at least one drink or snack. It's a small way to thank our hosts for the space and keep this meetup possible. *Bring a friend. Every great idea starts with a conversation.*

Lazy Saturday Liar Games

Lazy Saturday Liar Games

Sat, Oct 24, 2:00 PM
From Lets play Werewolf in the Park!
4.9

Saturday afternoons are perfect to play some lazy liar games (sundays work too!), if you have nothing better to do. We are a group of friendly people who will teach you how to play these easy social deduction games . Amazing way to meet new people and have some good company during weekend. **IMPORTANT** It's relaxed playing, nothing for ambitious gamers or people who take games as serious business. Waiting list policy: When spots open up, we try to bring in a good mix — some regulars we can count on and some new faces to keep things fresh. That means not everyone will get picked every time, but don’t take it the wrong way — it’s just about balance. There’ll always be more chances to join!

JUG BB: Pre-SAG Special @ JetBrains with Chris Richardson

JUG BB: Pre-SAG Special @ JetBrains with Chris Richardson

Mon, Nov 16, 5:30 PM
From Java Usergroup Berlin-Brandenburg
4.6

Just before the iSAQB Software Architecture Gathering 2026 kicks off in Berlin, we're getting the community together for a special pre-SAG evening at the JetBrains office! Whether you're attending SAG or simply interested in software architecture, Java and the impact of GenAI on software delivery, you're very welcome to join us. **🎤 Chris Richardson** **Fast Outer and Inner Loops: Prerequisites for GenAI-Powered Software Delivery** GenAI coding agents have the potential to rapidly make changes. But an agent does more than edit files: it makes design decisions, runs tests, pushes changes through the deployment pipeline into production, and analyzes the results. These steps form the same two loops that human developers use: the outer change-deploy-analyze loop and the inner edit-test-analyze loop. Agents fulfill their potential only when both loops are fast. Chris will explain how architecture determines the speed of both loops and introduce six architecture and design techniques for making them faster. He'll also explore why organizations using coding agents can outgrow a monolith sooner, and the signals that indicate when it may be time to move toward microservices. **About Chris** Chris Richardson helps organizations modernize their application architectures to accelerate software delivery and enable fast, sustainable flow, a prerequisite for effectively using coding agents. He is the creator of Microservices.io, author of *Microservices Patterns* and *POJOs in Action*, and founder of Eventuate. Earlier in his career, Chris founded the original CloudFoundry.com, an early Java PaaS for Amazon EC2. He speaks internationally about software architecture and architecting for fast flow. **🎤 JetBrains** **Gleb Melnikov \| Rethinking the IDE for Coding Agents** Our hosts at JetBrains will take the stage for a session before we head into the main talk. **🎤 Community Speaker** **One speaker slot is still open!** We'd love to give someone from the community the stage. If you have something interesting to share around Java, software architecture, developer productivity, AI-assisted development, or a related topic, reach out to the organizers. **📅 Agenda** **18:30** – Doors open, drinks & networking **19:00** – JetBrains session: Gleb Melnikov \| Rethinking the IDE for Coding Agents **19:30** – Community speaker – *open speaker slot* **20:00** – Networking break **20:30** – Chris Richardson – *Fast Outer and Inner Loops: Prerequisites for GenAI-Powered Software Delivery* **21:15** – Q&A **21:30** – Networking & refreshments **22:00** – End 📍 **JetBrains Office, Berlin** A big thank you to JetBrains for hosting us! See you in Berlin! 👋
