Regents Park stroll, 2.5miles

* We will meet outside the Baker Street tube station, in Front of Pizza Express, and make our way to Regent's Park. * The Regent’s Park is one of the Royal Parks of London and combines large open spaces with tree-lined pathways, formal gardens, and four children’s playgrounds. It has excellent sports facilities, and contains central London’s largest outdoor sports area. * The Regent's Park is named after the Prince Regent, sometimes known as the playboy prince, who later became King George IV (1762-1830). * We will walk round the Boating lake, through the elegant flowerbeds in the Avenue Gardens to arrive at English Gardens. We will also visit newly oppened Queen Elizabeth II garden (if it'not too busy). * From there we will make our way to Queen Mary’s Rose Gardens to see more than 12,000 roses. From there to the Japanese garden island (pictured above) and carry on by the rockery garden. finish our walk at the Baker Street station. Optional lunch drinks in local spoons at the end of the walk. *“It's all make-believe, isn't it?”* (Marilyn Monroe) Join us at **Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait at the National Portrait Gallery** to explore the life, career and legacy of Marilyn Monroe through portraits created by some of the greatest photographers and artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Bringing together works by Andy Warhol, Pauline Boty, Marlene Dumas, James Gill, Rosalyn Drexler and Audrey Flack, alongside over 20 era-defining photographers, including Cecil Beaton, Philippe Halsman, Bernard of Hollywood, Sam Shaw, Richard Avedon and George Barris, the exhibition will foreground Monroe’s collaborative approach to image making and her creative agency. The exhibition will also include personal belongings such as books, scripts and clothes to enrich understanding of the woman behind the image. From the earliest ‘cheesecake’ pin-ups made when she was a young model named Norma-Jeane, to the most poignant final photographs taken on the beach in Santa Monica in 1962, Marilyn Monroe was one of the most photographed people in the world. The Thames Barrier walk, 5 miles

* We will meet outside the North Greenwich tube station and make our way via the scenic Thames path. * We will walk past the Emirates Air Line and see a number of sculptures on route, including the Mermaid by Damen Hurst, Quantum Cloud and the Polar Sundial to arrive at Thames Barrier, this is where we are our lunch break so please bring a **packed lunch**. * The Thames Barrier is a retractable barrier system that is designed to prevent the floodplain of most of Greater London from being flooded by exceptionally high tides and storm surges moving up from the North Sea. It has been operational since 1982. * We will then return to North Greenwich, this is where the walk ends. Optional drinks at the local pub after the walk.
