🏖️ From Viking to Margate Beach, with time on the beach & picnic time at a Botnay Bay - *one of the best sandy beaches close to London & named one of the best in the UK.* *⛱️ This is all about the sand and the sea, we will be walking up, down and around to get to many bays and beaches, that’s the idea! If you feel you’ll get bored after the second beach, then this is not for you. However, if you love the sea and proper sandy beaches, then pack your beach stuff!* 🟢 **WALK:** 📏 13km (8 miles) 💓 Av. Pace: 4.8 km/h 📍 **London Victoria Rail Station** (Opposite platform 4/5) ⌚ From: 08:41. Train departs: **09:10** \[Arrived at Broadstairs: 11:00 \| Return estimate 18:33pm\, arrives 20:21 Victoria \] ↪️ Start: **Broadstairs Station** [/Victoria ] ↩️ Ends: **Margate Station** [/Victoria] **🚆 Travel & Tickets** All our regular walks & hikes are free to join. You are welcome to arrange your own travel or meet us at the destination station. **Option 1: Buy Your Own Ticket** We recommend buying on the day. Use a **Network Railcard** or a **GroupSave** discount where possible. Make sure it allows anytime return. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ **Option 2: Group Ticket (3+ People)** I can help purchase group tickets to save costs, **BUT you must arrive at the station before the platform is announced to collect your physical ticket.** To join this: 💳 **PayPay Here:** TBC By Thursday 6th August *Please send via **Friends & Family** and make sure no fee is charged.* ⏳**Deadline:** TBC 📱 **Confirmation:** Message on **[WhatsApp](https://tinyurl.com/5n68255b)** with your **Meetup Name** once paid. *ℹ️ No refunds once tickets are bought.* ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ 🚻 Available at Victoria Station and at most of the beaches. 😌 If the weather is suitable then there is time to relax, eat, rest and play on a sandy beach. 🎒 What to bring: appropriate clothing/shoes, water bottle, snacks to keep you going & packed lunch. Welcome to bring any games etc 🩳 Bring extra clothes if you're getting in the water and a small towel. ⛺ I will have a small (sealable) beach tent for our break - if anyone needs to change/adjust clothes etc. 🥏 Feel free to bring beach games. We will of course aim to play our usual Frizbattle games! 🧎 For those wanting to pray Zuhur/Asr: we can pray on the beach at rest/food time. 🏖️👣 Why not take your shoes/socks off and walk barefoot on all of the beaches! *If you are, then I would also recommend carrying some light beach sandals/slippers/crocs to use in-between some of bays - it will save time and avoid sandy shoes/socks for the longer walking parts.* ⛱️ 1. Hastings was also a Saxon settlement before the Norman invasion, and had a castle that was later rebuilt by William. Hastings began as a Saxon settlement. It was called Haesta ingas, which means Haesta’s people. By the 10th century, Hastings had grown into a little market town. It even had its own mint.
