**WHALES & WHALES!** In July/August, thousands of humpback whales migrate north from Antarctica to the warm breeding waters of tropical Australia. **WHY WALK?** 1\. Would you like to live longer? Well guess what\, get out and keep on walking\. Yes\! Yes\! 2\. Walking increases blood flow to the brain\, improving memory almost instantly\! 3\. Healthy\, you bet yu\! and yes it makes you happy\, feeling good inside guaranteed\. **Best for visibility! yes! photos yes!** Manly to North Head high point viewing areas are Sydney's top classified list for whale watching. Mornings when winds are typically lighter, making the ocean smoother, sun directly overhead, reducing ocean glare and making it easier to spot spouts and splashes. **BEAUTIFUL WHALE WATCHING WALK:** 1\. Whale Watching: Southern Migration: Watsons Bay to Maroubra!!! 18km Medium

**Whale Watching Day!!!Southern Migration: Watson’s Bay to Maroubra 18 km (Medium)** We ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay and commence our walk out of **South Head**, and along the Federation walk, navigating Diamond Bay and Dover Heights before dropping down to **North Bondi.** Leaving Bondi Beach behind, we strike out for Tamarrama and **Bronte**, where we stop for a nice lunch break of 45 minutes. Following lunch we head for Maroubra via **Clovelly and Coogee** Beaches. We stop at **Mistral Point** before marching into Maroubra where we will invade the **Maroubra Seals Club** for a tasty beer (and food if desired - its pretty tasty, I have to say!), before grabbing a bus back to the City. The ocean front scenery on this walk is stunning! Hopefully we will spot **Humpback whales** during the day; it is likely that we will. We should arrive at Maroubra by about 4:00pm. Oh, please make sure you **bring photo ID**, to gain entrance to the Maroubra Seals Club. **Distance:** 18 km **Type of Walk:** This wonderful walk is water, water, all the way! Almost the entire walk is along ocean front promenades. **Difficulty:** Medium, because of the distance. If you are unsure about the distance but would like to test yourself this is a walk for you: there are plenty of get-out points. **Walking Pace:** We will maintain a steady pace all day and average 4.5 km per hour. **Meeting Place and Transport:** We catch the Watsons Bay Ferry from Circular Quay Wharf 2. The Ferry leaves Circular Quay at 9:45 am and arrives at Watsons Bay at 10:08am. **Join us for a stunning coastal walk along the Kurnell to Cronulla section, through the scenic Botany Bay National Park**. This route offers beautiful ocean views, historical sites, and a cool breeze along much of the path. Afterwards, we’ll relax with a late lunch at German Beerhall in Cronulla. **Good fitness is recommended**, and also some beach walking is involved. **Before you RSVP, be sure to read the following:** * **Difficulty:** Medium to Hard, mostly harbourside with bushlands, rocky surfaces, and some elevation gains. * **Start** at Prince Charles Pde bus stop opp Kurnell Post Office after 9 am. Take 987 from Cronulla Station at 08:45 AM to reach there if using public transport, **finish** at Cronulla Station late afternoon. * **Route:** We’ll start at our meeting point and head to Prince Charles Parade, walking the Monument Track past Captain Cook’s Landing Place. Next, we’ll take the Muru Trail to Cape Solander Lookout, followed by Cape Baily Coastal Track to the lighthouse, Boat Harbour Aquatic Reserve, and a long walk on Cronulla Beach before the finish near the station for an easy train ride home! * **Gratuity:** A $5 contribution is appreciated to help cover our Meetup subscription and group running costs. Rose Bay to South Head (Watsons Bay) 10km Easy-Grade 1

This walk combines the Hermitage Foreshore Track from Rose Bay to Parsley Bay Bridge in Vaucluse with the South Head Heritage trail in Watsons Bay with panoramic views of Sydney Harbour and North Head. From Rose Bay Wharf we begin the walk to the Hermitage Foreshore Track which we follow to the beach at Nielsen Park. We then continue through Parsley Bay to Watsons Bay where we visit the famous lookout `The Gap` via South Head and the beach at Camp Cove, before lunch at Watsons Bay, then taking the bus or ferry back to the city. OPTION TO HAVE LUNCH WILL BE AT THE END OF THE WALK AT WATSONS BAY. TRANSPORT OPTION: 9:45am ferry from Circular Quay Wharf 2, Side B. Arriving at Rose Bay Wharf at 9:57am OR Bus 324 or 325 from Wynyard or Town Hall. **EASY-PEASY to NEW FISH MARKET WALK from Quay via Barangaroo-Pyrmont** **Beginners Beauty Walk**, perfectly flat all the way! **EASY & BEAUTIFUL SCENIC SYDNEY HARBOUR WALK:** Flat all the way, perfect for beginners. Come on, we need to exercise. Enjoy amazing scenery while walking around the world's most beautiful harbour to Sydney's NEW Fish Market! **CIRCULAR QUAY START:** to "First Fleet Park" past Overseas Passenger Terminal onto Hickson Road Reserve then under **Sydney Harbour Bridge**. **Next:** Walsh Bay, Barangaroo, King Street Wharf Darling Harbour, Sydney Aquarium, over **Pyrmont Bridge** to Maritime Museum, stop for a coffee, rehydrate at Pyrmont Bay. **Keep Walking:** Visit "Life in a Suitcase Monument" through Metcalfe Park onto **Pirrama Park** then Pyrmont Foreshore walk Waterfront Park to **Sydney's New Fish Market**. **Time:** 10am **Meeting Point:** Outside Customs House Courtyard. 12kms Manly Beach to Long Reef to "New" Brookvale Microbrew!!!

**Bondi to Coogee** gets all the praise, but I'll take **Manly Beach to Dee Why Beach & Long Reef Headland** any any day of the week! But first... **7,000 members and growing!** Nice work team! Sheez to think two years ago only *one hiker* came on this Long Reef Hike (yes, we saw Chris Hemmesworth on a jetski [pic below] - ladies you missed out), and I was ready to shut the group down. And now? We've grown. Oh we've grown. And I believe we're the best hiking group in Sydney! **Well, you all are the best... and Sydney's dose of Mother Nature we are so lucky to hike is absolutely the best in the world!** **THE HIKE.** 930am **we meet at Guzman y Gomez on Manly Wharf,** and off we go... **Manly Beach, Queenscliff Beach, Freshwater Beach,** to the **Boardwalk**, **Curl Curl Beach**, **Curl Curl Rockpool** (perhaps my favourite in Sydney), then into **Dee Why Headland** where it's proper hiking with unforgettable views... **Dee Why Beach** and its rockpools are heavenly.
