Short Hike to Devil's Slide, followed by a picnic on the beach

\*\*REMINDER- This group is for people who are searching for a Chatbot-free lifestyle community.\*\*\*\*\*\* You're Invited!....Your chatbot is not. This trek offers history, nature, and maybe even mermaids! (As long as you keep your eyes peeled) We are going to be walking down the abandoned Highway 1- a wide open road directly on the Pacific coast that was closed permanently in 2014 and converted into the coolest walking trail in the whole damn Bay area! We'll make our way to Devil's slide and explore the Old Devil's Slide bunker (a former lookout point from World War 2). The trail is about 1.3 miles each way, so about 2.6 miles total. Very beginner-friendly way to get some fresh air and see breathtaking coastal views. After we hike....we picnic! We'll head over to Pacifica state beach and those of us who are brave enough will eat from the famous Taco Bell beach cantina. For everyone else, I will be bringing picnic snacks and playing cards Picnic contributions and blankets encouraged :) Come out and play! Let's go exploring. Ocean Beach Stroll

The latest SF 55+ San Francisco Walking Group event takes place on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. at Java Beach at the Zoo Cafe, 2650 Sloat Boulevard, San Francisco. The route is to walk 3 blocks down Sloat Blvd. to the Upper Great Highway recreation path, continue walking until Judah Street and then turn around and go back to Java Beach. The walk varies between 90 minutes and 2 hours. Java Beach has a bathroom and there is also a public bathroom at Judah Street at the foot of the path at the halfway mark of the walk. The host is Weeming Yee, known as "Wee." **Rain Policy:** Rain cancels the walk **Dog Policy:** dog-friendly walk **Intensity:** Easy & Flat Walk 50 ft of elevation change **Route**: Up Ocean Beach and back **Restrooms:** Beginning (Java Beach on Sloat), Public restrooms every 3 blocks along the Great Hwy. **Distance:** 4 miles **Walk Talk:** Conversational **Pre-Walk**: no activities before walk **Post-Walk**: no activities after walk **Parking**: Parking is easy. **Grace Period:** 5 minutes **Running Late:** We'll walk to the Upper Great Highway and head North on the side path. Muir Beach - Middle Green Gulch Loop. 4.4 mi, 900 ft

Hi Ladies, join us for a classic Headlands hike with great ocean views! This is a moderately challenging 4.4 mile, 900 ft elevation gain, 2-2.5 hour hike. NOTE: this hike begins with a fairly steep 1.75 mile sustained uphill climb on the Coastal Trail, which rewards us with sweeping views of Muir Beach and the coast. Our route then loops around to the Middle Green Gulch Trail, winding us back down through the expansive gardens of the Green Gulch Zen Center. We tend to walk at a reasonably brisk pace, best for individuals with a moderate fitness level. The hike is out in the open, on mostly wide dirt trails with some uneven terrain. Poles advised, if you use them, and sturdy hiking footwear. Bring sun protection and plenty of water. **Meeting place**: Muir Beach Parking Lot. 100 Pacific Way, Muir Beach, CA. No parking pass required. **Time**: 9:30 am. In respect for everyone's time we have a 5 minute wait policy. We will do introductions and begin the hike promptly at 9:35 am.
