Whether you've never climbed or you're a pro, whether you want to boulder, top-rope, or (maybe) lead, we'll partner up and climb some walls. MetroRock Bushwick is pretty evenly split between bouldering and rope climbing, so we'll form groups based on climbing preferences, and who's belay- and/or lead-certified, or willing to get certified. This event is open to all skill levels, but please note that teaching belay techniques is not permitted at MetroRock outside of a scheduled class. If you plan to take the belay test, please make sure your skills are up to speed before you arrive. If it's your first time at MetroRock, try to get there a few minutes early to allow for registration and signing the waiver. Looking to meet a new climbing community? Maybe you've just moved and would like to meet some new climbing partners? Or you are new to the community and sport and would like to meet up with some new friends! Every Tuesday we have a very psyched community leader to introduce climbers to our community and to each other! Many of the regulars to this meetup (8+) don't bother signing up, but you will see them climbing and chatting at the meetup. Parking on Hackensack streets is free after 6 pm, so don't be discouraged if the Goat parking lot is full, which is often. On this walk we will sample 5 top rated pizzerias in Manhattan, starting in Harlem and ending on the Lower East Side. All of them offer pizza by the slice so you can easily grab a sample. Try a slice at each location, pick only the ones you’ve been meaning to try or just walk to check out these highly rated places. Join me on a hike in Black Rock Forest Those who joined me last year on this hike could remember the enormous amount and sweetness of wild raspberries grown there. Looks like this weekend is the right time. Subject to the weather condition - can be re-scheduled. Trails and pace will be moderate. Urban Athletics: Bike the NYC Bridges by Night

The other night I was on my bike riding around town and was struck by how dramatically the vibe of the city changes once the sun sets. People get out on their cycles and enjoy this town during the day but most of us put them away when the evening comes. That's like ordering a slice of pizza, throwing away the cheese and only eating the crust -- you're only getting half of what makes the experience great. **The plan...** We are going to take a nighttime tour of the East River bridges, we'll wheel through three boroughs and cross over five spans -- the Queensboro, Pulaski, Williamsburg, Manhattan, and Brooklyn bridges. This ride will highlight the stunning vistas only viewable from our water crossings and take in different views of the sparkling nighttime Manhattan skyline. If there was ever a time to go through the hassle of carrying your camera with you, this will be it. **The important stuff...** • This is going to be a casually-paced ride of about 17 miles. Most of the ride will take place in bike lanes but there will be parts with some automobile congestion. You must be comfortable riding in a group and in traffic. Lights and reflectors for your bike are also REQUIRED by law. **Helmets are mandatory otherwise you will not be allowed to ride with the group.** • This is a night ride so dress to be seen by motorists and pedestrians -- bright or reflective clothing is a must. • Make sure your bike is in good working order before the meetup and bring a lock in case we need to leave our cycles.
