Rowing around Manhattan fundraiser
Sat, Sep 12, 10:00 AMVillage Community Boathouse on Pier 40 in Manhattan is asking for experienced rowers who want to do their annual circumnavigation of Manhattan. It is a super fun trip. We did it last year with LIC boathouse and it was a blast. This is their annual fundraiser so they are also asking for $150 to join this trip. They have great community programs year round for everyone so this helps fund those! The rain date is September 13 so plan for both days in case the weather on the 12 looks bad. Please please you need to have some experience rowing and you also must be fit enough to row for an entire day for 30 miles. No option to quit halfway. If you need a rowing refresher LIC Boathouse is having a few paddling trips the weekend of Sep 5. Please if you RSVP then head over to their website to sign the waiver and pay for the $150 donation for this event. Most likely we will finish at around 5pm or 6pm. Catskill 3500 Bushwhack - Mount Sherrill
Sat, Sep 12, 1:00 PMIn order to officially secure your spot on this event and to receive the details email of where to exactly park and meet with us you must register on our site by clicking the link below. https://www.trailboundproject.com/service-page/catskill-3500-bushwhack-mount-sherrill?referral=service_list_widget Our events typically fill up at 24 people for guided hikes! You won't see the attendees here on meetup as registrations are on our site but we wanted to let you know that we typically see large outings for all of our events! Mount Sherrill is a 3,550' tall trailless peak and one of the 33 Catskill 3500 peaks that one must climb to become a Catskill 3500 Club member. We will be doing an out-and-back hike with about 6 miles of herd-paths and bushwhacking, ending up with a total of 2,000' of elevation change that takes 5 to 7 hours to complete. We will be following the herd-paths at a leisurely to moderate pace, but we'll have the opportunity to do some true bushwhacking over to the secret school bus, which was once used as an old hunter's camp. Be prepared for sustained off-trail navigation through dense forest, uneven footing, and steep terrain. Expect a physically demanding day with significant elevation gain and slow, deliberate movement. While mileage is moderate, the terrain makes this a full-value mountain day. Throughout the hike, we will focus on: • Map and compass navigation • Terrain assessment and going over route options • Proper footwork on steeper, rougher terrain Sherrill is not about speed or views. It's about precision, discipline, and controlled movement through terrain that is off the beaten path. Join us for a day of fun navigation challenges in beautiful terrain! The parking and hike details are emailed after registration.

Drinks and hikes at the Frying Pan
Wed, Sep 16, 11:00 PMHey everyone! Let's meet up for drinks at the Frying Pan in Manhattan. We will meet there on Wednesday night September 16 to chat about past and future hikes and outdoorsy trips over drinks. I will post my number in the comments the day of the chat and in case it rains and the bar is closed we will just move the event to one of the indoor bars nearby. I will update everyone in the comments section. Hopefully we have good weather! The frying is rather large so watch the comments section for the exact location where we are gathering. Everyone is welcome to come!

Catskill 3500 Bushwhack - North Dome
Sat, Sep 26, 12:00 PMIn order to officially secure your spot on this event and to receive the details email of where to exactly park and meet with us you must register on our site by clicking the link below. https://www.trailboundproject.com/service-page/catskill-3500-bushwhack-north-dome?referral=service_list_widget Our events typically fill up at 24 people for guided hikes! You won't see the attendees here on meetup as registrations are on our site but we wanted to let you know that we typically see large outings for all of our events! North Dome is a 3,610' tall trailless peak and one of the 33 Catskill 3500 peaks that one must climb to become a Catskill 3500 Club member. It's about 3 miles of on-trail and 2 miles of off-trail bushwhacking with a total of 2,000' of elevation change that takes 5 to 7 hours to complete. Although we'll take this hike at a leisurely to moderate pace, North Dome is infamous for its 5 cliff-bands, so prepare for lots of scrambling! It's a challenging hike, often times with mud and stinging nettles, so it's great to do with other TrailBounders! This will not be your typical guided hike. Every hike with TBP is an opportunity to learn, so for this hike, we will use map & compass combined with orienteering techniques to navigate. No electronics! Although the guides will do much of the map & compass work, all participants will get turns navigating, with the guides helping and teaching when needed. The objective is to build your confidence so you can go out and summit other trailless Catskill 3500 peaks alone or with others. Although North Dome is not known for its views, it does offer beautiful terrain and fun challenges. Join us for a fun day of navigating and scrambling! The parking and hike details are emailed after registration.
