We've arranged for a number of free tickets at DIA BEACON on the Hudson River https://www.diaart.org/visit/visit-our-locations-sites/dia-beacon-beacon-united-states Folks taking the train can take the 856 leaving Grand Central arriving 1028 following the Museum, we'll hop in ubers and/or folks that can drive to the Mt Beacon trail head across down and climb Mt Beacon. Maybe Hudson Valley Brewery afterwards? **Come join us at the Hoboken Biergarten to watch a FIFA World Cup Game! It will be Germany V. Curaçao so let’s all enjoy some German beer & food while watching the game on the big screen. Wear your fav soccer jersey!** **You may either uber to the location or if you are planning to drive, there is a public parking garage located at the Trader Joe’s you can park at, about a 3-5 minute walk. There are 3-4 levels in the garage so pay attention to which lev you can park on if you’re not a resident or customer for trader joe’s.**

🌹 Wake Up and Smell the Roses ⏰ Hudson River Park Piers 🌹 8 miles

**In early June, when the air is still, all of Hudson River Park can smell of roses. This walk is the reverse of Take a Long Walk off a Short Pier, with a few adjustments because flowers.** We'll start at Chambers Street and visit 18 of the Hudson River Park's public piers to enjoy the plants and birds, lawns and gardens, beach and salt marsh, and gorgeous views. **Meeting time/place:** 9:45 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026 9:45 at West Broadway and Chambers Street (Bogardus Plaza) under the clock. Chambers Street 1/2/3 is adjacent [Note: There's a newly discovered restroom in the station]. One block away there's the A/C/E (northernmost exit); R/W and 1/2/3 City Hall stations are three and four blocks respectively. There’s a Starbucks and Zucker’s Bagels at our meeting place. **Course:** We'll enter the park at Chambers Street via the bridge at Stuyvesant High School (if elevator available). Our first restroom stop is one block north. In Tribeca we'll visit Piers 25, 26, and 34. In Greenwich Village we'll walk Piers 45, 46, and 51, Gansevoort Peninsula, and view the late-spring plantings at Little Island. After our lunch break at Pier 57, it's on to Chelsea Piers 59, 60, and 61; Pier 62 (Chelsea Entry Garden); Pier 63 (Chelsea Lawn Bowl); Pier 64 (Stonefield landscape sculpture and native garden); Pier 66, Chelsea Habitat, an ecological planting zone and certified Monarch Waystation; and Midtown Piers 76, 84, and 86 (Intrepid), where we'll get free pier-only passes, and where the walk will end. **Return/Early Exit:** Many exit points along 12th Avenue, including crosstown bus stops at 23rd Street (M23) and 43rd Street (M42 and M50), connecting to all subways, plus No. 7 at Hudson Yards. Rain cancels **Bring**: Water, sunscreen, hat, lunch/snacks. Simultaneous Centuries: Birds, Roses, Buildings and Time

Did you know areas of West Harlem and Washington Heights are home to the only Heritage Rose District in the United States? And that the same areas hold the largest concentration of Audubon bird murals? You probably knew that the Manhattan grid was designed to end between these two neighborhoods and largely does, with the grid system interrupted by streets that once were farm and designed neighborhood paths, dictated by events and people of the 19th Century. Come along on an Uptown Saunter through heritage rose plantings, wandering birds, and time fluctuations. **Highlights**: Harlem and Washington Heights history, Gothic City College buildings, Stunning rowhouses of Convent Avenue, Beaux-Arts architecture, Trinity Church and Mausoleum and a few of its few of its inhabitants, an Uptown cloister, historical buildings, interspersed with seemingly random and sometimes unseen gardens and murals. **Meet**:The Forum, Broadway and 125th Street (inside) **Time**: 9:45 AM, firm start at 10:00 **End place:** 167th Street and Amsterdam Avenue **End tiime:** APPROXIMATELY 2:00 **RAIN:** Hard rain cancels or postpones. You will be informed early. *Note that this is a linear walk* with approximate route and end time, depending on the amount of stopping and picture taking. The Forum is most easily accessed by the #1 train, and a 10-minute walk from the ABCD. The ending is close to the #1 and AC lines from 168th. Check the MTA schedule for weekend changes. The Upper Manhattan nature of the walk is that there will be some hills but all paved sidewalks. **Attendance:** Attendance is limited. Please register only if you really plan to attend. If for any reason you change your mind or your circumstances change, please revise your RSVP in time for others on the waiting list to join. **Bring**: Check the weather and dress appropriately, bring sunscreen if that is your habit, and bring water. The walk is mostly on city streets, where there won't be fountains but where there will be stores. **Rest Rooms:** At the start in the Forum, in the Trinity Cemetery, and near the end on Edgecombe in front of High Bridge Park. **Breaks**: one planned lunch break about halfway, no bathrooms at the break but one shortly before. Free meditation in lovely atrium

The meeting is for everyone who wants to learn how to meditate, especially those who think they can't meditate because they can't stop their mind from thinking--a common misconception. If you're willing to be open and aware, you can meditate, regardless of how much or how little you're thinking. I will emphasize a simple awareness method, but I'll also describe the other two common techniques, mantra and breath watching, in case you feel more comfortable with those. We will do two sessions of approximately 15 minutes each. After each session we will discuss our experiences and any questions that may arise. I will also discuss some of the philosophical basis for meditation, which I hope you will find not only illuminating and inspiring but also helpful in your daily life. I can honestly say that most participants seem to enjoy these sessions and find them valuable. COST: Free. MY QUALIFICATIONS: I have been meditating daily for about 50 years. I attended a weekly Sufi meditation group for 24 years and a Buddhist one for 3 years, àlthough my approach will be primarily secular. And I wrote an article for the Berkley Wellness Letter about myths that discourage people from meditating.

Let's give this another shot! Hope the weather cooperates this time! This is a boat with a bar on the deck. Bring warm clothing as it will get chilly on the deck. If the weather doesn't cooperate or it is too chilly we will move next door to the Expat bar. I will update everyone the day of the event in the comments section. We will meet at 7:30pm there! Everyone is welcome to come even if you are new! Let talks about our past and future hiking adventures! This is a super fun event and a chance to meet others before going on hikes outside the city.
