Central Park Bird Walk - Paid event $20/person Beginners Welcome! We will be looking for eastern bluebirds that migrate through our area at this time of year. They will be eating berries, brightly colored, orange and red, and it will truly be a fall experience. We will also be looking for Hawks, Eagles, and owls. And other fall migrants. The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge includes over 12,600 acres of water, salt marshes, freshwater and brackish water ponds, upland fields and woods, and open bay and islands. It is one of the largest bird habitats in the northeastern United States and is a great place to observe the seasonal bird migration as well as resident species. It is one of the best places in New York City to observe migrating species: 332 bird species, nearly half the species in the Northeast, have been sighted at the refuge over the last 25 years (38 are accidental, and include several New York State records). It is one of the most significant bird sanctuaries in the northeastern United States. Birding is excellent year round. It is a rich area for wintering waterfowl, including Snow Goose (at least 700 at one time), Brant, various species of ducks and raptors including Cooper’s Hawks and Peregrine Falcon. Croton Point Park Our Third Upstate Trip

**Join us on our Third Fall Colors Photo Walk at Croton Point Park** ***Saturday, November 14th. Meet near the Clock/info booth in Grand Central Station*** ***10:00am for 10:31 train departure on Metro North Hudson Line (Poughkeepsie Train) to Croton-Harmon*** *Train Ticket Prices* *One Way Off-Peak $11.75* *One Way Senior/Disabled/Medicare $8.00* *Buy your ticket at the station ticket machines,* *ticket office or through the TrainTime app.* After a pleasant train ride along the banks of the Hudson River, we will arrive Croton-Harmon Railroad Station at 11:25 am and walk across a bridge into the Croton Point Park, a 508-acre park situated on a peninsula on the east shore of the Hudson River where we will be able to enjoy a healthy 8 mile walk and photograph the scenery and hopefully still colorful fall foliage. Join us as we explore the park and its amenities. Around 3 PM, we'll leave the park and hopefully grab a bite to eat at a nearby Italian Restaurant (optional ) before heading back to the station for the return trip to New York City *The park, rich in natural and human history, is the site of the Croton Point Nature Center.* *The oldest oyster shell middens on the North Atlantic Coast uncovered by archeologists on Croton Point confirm that the peninsula was inhabited by Native Americans as early as 7,000 years ago. Our Winter Walks offer invigorating, scenic, and a healthy outdoor activity, at one of our most popular NY locations - Central Park! Plus, it's a great and different way to meet others and make new friends of the same age! You will randomly be paired with others in the beginning then rotate at designated times so that you get to meet everyone participating. This event very casual and non-awkward + our host will help to make introductions. We will casually walk a 1.5-2 mile stretch through Central Park. You will also have the option to hang out afterwards where you can exchange contact info with others. Reminder, this is a a "social" walk and gender ratios may not be even.
