Bird & Butterfly Walk on The East River

Birds, butterflies and bugs! Enjoy a scenic walk on the new Greenway Walk on the east side of Manhattan. Enjoy Nature! We will be looking for gulls, terns, cormorants, and bald eagles as we walk along the new Greenway. We will also be looking for butterflies, bugs and mushrooms. Beyond New York - Exploring the Hoboken Waterfront

***UPDATE:*** *This event has been rescheduled from its original June 27, 2026 date.* For the very first time, NYC Shutterbugs is venturing outside the borders. In this meetup, we shall be exploring the Hoboken Waterfront in New Jersey. This scenic, 1-mile linear park along the Hudson River is known for its clear, unobstructed, panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, and luch green spaces like Pier A Park and Pier C Park, as well as the statue of Frank Sinatra. We will meet at the World Trade Center PATH Station at 10:00 AM. Our goal is to catch the 10:15 AM PATH train from to Hoboken (a 10 minute ride). If you are gonna be late, please inform us in the group chat and **we'll wait until no later than 10:30 am before we depart.** From Hoboken, we will make our way along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway and walking up to Pier A and Pier C parks, reaching Sinatra Park (where the statue resides) before heading back. Our hike will take us to the panoramic views at Sam's Point before continuing to the famous Ice Caves, a maze of narrow rock crevices, ladders, and cool passageways where patches of ice can often linger well into the warmer months thanks to a unique natural microclimate. It's unlike any other hike in the region. The classic route to the overlook and Ice Caves is about 3.4 miles round trip, This hike is considered moderate difficulty due to some rocky sections and ladders through the caves. **Even though this is not the most difficult hike, it has some moderately challenging parts. If yu are expecting an easy simple hike and are not ready for the challenge, DO NOT JOIN!** After, we'll head to Warwick Valley Winery, Distillery & Orchard to slow things down. If you do not drink, don't worry, there are plenty of non alcoholic options.
