If you're a college student in NYC and either enjoy bouldering or want to try it for the first time, this is for you! Climb hard or barely climb at all — both work, and total beginners are genuinely welcome. And yes, if you have one and bring your chalk bag then we'll top it off with some free chalk — on us :). You can trickle in starting 4:00pm, where we'll be breaking off into groups of 3-4 to climb together, as well as go through a handout of some fun relationship-making questions that start light (think We're Not Really Strangers) and get more interesting from there (questions like: "Is what I'm pursuing actually worth it, or could I be missing something?", "Why does ___ make you happy — does it actually?") — all geared towards the goal of making real, deep, and lasting friendships in NYC with people our age. Afterwards, we'll probably grab something yummy to eat together in our groups if you want to join for that as well.

The Catskills Six is our third trip in our Advanced Catskill Backpacking Series — built specifically for TrailBounders who have already completed prior backpacking trips and are ready to increase both physical and technical demand. We will be summiting 6 Catskill 3500 peaks — Rocky (bushwhack), Balsam Cap (bushwhack), Friday (bushwhack), Lone (bushwhack), Peekamoose (half-trailed), & Table (trailed). Expect extended elevation gain and loss, rougher footing, and segments that require sharper navigation awareness. The bushwhack peaks will have some herd-paths, but it will be true bushwhacking from where we will be camped, demanding greater attention to map, compass, and terrain reading while carrying a full pack. Over the course of the weekend, we will: • Travel across six Catskill 3500 peaks • Manage sustained elevation gain and loss • Navigate trail and trail-less terrain • Refine terrain assessment under fatigue • Strengthen pacing and group coordination across longer days Efficiency is no longer just helpful — it becomes essential. Come join us for a free 3 mile walk in Central Park every Saturday. We'll be departing at 10am from the Bridle Path entering the park from the 90th St. & 5th Ave. entrance. We’re the NYC Chapter of Ever Walk – an international movement to encourage people to walk together to enhance physical and mental health. Founded by one of the greatest women athletes of our time, Diana Nyad, and her coach and friend, Bonnie Stoll. Diana swam from Cuba to Florida in shark infested waters without a shark cage - check the movie NYAD on Netflix if you want to be inspired! **The Basics** * **DISTANCE:** 3'ish miles round trip. * **START:** Meet at 9:55am and leave right after instructions and announcements. We really do! * **DURATION:** About 90 minutes - 2 hours. * **PACE:** 23 minute mile conversational pace. Whether you've never climbed or you're a pro, whether you want to boulder, top-rope, or (maybe) lead, we'll partner up and climb some walls. MetroRock Bushwick is pretty evenly split between bouldering and rope climbing, so we'll form groups based on climbing preferences, and who's belay- and/or lead-certified, or willing to get certified. This event is open to all skill levels, but please note that teaching belay techniques is not permitted at MetroRock outside of a scheduled class. If you plan to take the belay test, please make sure your skills are up to speed before you arrive. If it's your first time at MetroRock, try to get there a few minutes early to allow for registration and signing the waiver. For those who wish to join, at around 9pm we will pop over to [Kings County Brewers Collective](https://www.kcbcbeer.com/), a few blocks away, for a quick drink. **Agenda:** * 6:55pm: Arrive at MetroRock, check-in at front desk and sign waiver if necessary * 7pm: Meet the other attendees in the area to the right of the front desk * 7:15pm: Form pairs (or groups of 3) and move into the gym to start climbing. * 9pm: Meet at the front desk again, and head out together to the brewery. **More info about MetroRock:** [https://bushwick.metrorock.com/bushwick-home](https://bushwick.metrorock.com/bushwick-home) Special deal for Rock Climb + Chill event attendees: **$23 entrance fee** with **gear rental included** (save $21 compared to the regular $32 day pass + $12 gear rental).
