Hi all, I am organizing a Floriade event, so I hope you can make it. We will meet at the entrance near the Ferris wheel. If the weather prediction says it is going to rain I will change the event perhaps to a nearby cafe.

Material Fracture Discussion

Material Fracture Discussion

Sun, Sep 20, 5:00 AM
From Sydney Fracture in Nature Meetup Group

\*\*\* To register for this event use the following link. Registration is free. \*\*\* https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/1996358931304?aff=oddtdtcreator **Meeting Details** Location: Bashir Reading Room. Study Room: TBC **What's This About?** Join a small, friendly, community group discussion about patterns in nature. This event is part of a series of discussions themed “**Fracture in Nature**”. They are a space to explore how things break—in nature, in materials, in society, and in ourselves. It’s an opportunity to share personal reflections and abstract ideas, drawing inspiration from patterns in the natural world and seeking fulfillment through connection. This event is a small discussion. We’ll be looking at the visible and invisible patterns around us and asking: * Why do patterns form? * Are patterns a sign of something more significant? * What can nature teach us about strength, resilience, and reconnection? * Why do tiny patterns lead to major trendss in large systems? * Can natural patterns be symbolic of human patterns? * Can objects and people connect? Whether you love nature, science, engineering, art, humans, or asking big questions, this is a welcoming space to share insights and ideas, think deeply, and connect with others. I am an engineer with a love of the natural environment. I am fascinated by fracture patterns in natural materials. If there is interest we can have dinner or refreshments afterwards at a nearby venue (optional). **What to Expect?** * A relaxed and respectful group conversation. * Small group (study room size), so everyone can speak. * No prior knowledge required. * Participants are amateurs, and attend voluntarily. Most will not have met before, and will come from a variety of backgrounds, careers, and reasons for attending. * Participants are not obligated to speak, you can just listen if you prefer. **Things To Know** * This is a free event, but space is limited to six people due to the size of the meeting room—please only RSVP if you plan to attend. I have set the RSVP limit as ten including me as my experience suggests some registrants will not show up. * If your plans change, update your RSVP so someone else can take your place. * The meeting will be held in a study room in the library venue. The specific study room will be advised by email a couple of days before the event. * Participants must comply with the venue's rules. * This group reflects personal opinions, not those of any affiliated organisation. * All participants are expected to act with respect and integrity. **Other Ways to Connect** If you cannot join this event you might like to connect through one of the following means. [Fracture in Nature with Meetup](https://www.meetup.com/sydney-fracture-in-nature-meetup-group/ "https://www.meetup.com/sydney-fracture-in-nature-meetup-group/") [Fracture in Nature with Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/1106621081251559 "https://www.facebook.com/groups/1106621081251559") [Fracture in Nature with Discord](https://discord.gg/VqAvSmFqtW "https://discord.gg/VqAvSmFqtW") **A sense of amazement and connection awaits.** Hope to see you there!
