We are having a Friday golden hour walk in Mountain View downtown, also to greet and welcome new members. The **best** hour of the week is Friday at sunset — the week's work is behind you, the light turns gold, and the whole weekend is still ahead. We're spending it the best way we know: live music on the plaza, a walk to the creek as the light comes down, sunset from the footbridges, and dinner downtown with new friends. Come solo, leave with weekend plans. It so happens we are having a small team meeting at the time, so welcome new members to come take a look, and check us out. We would welcome your questions. **First edition** with this format. \#\# The Plan **6:45 — The Meet.** Starbucks, 750 Castro St, downtown Mountain View. Grab a coffee, say hello, meet the group. **7:10 — Concert on the Plaza.** One block over, the city's free summer concert series is in full swing at Civic Center Plaza. We catch the last set from the lawn. **7:30 — The Golden Mile.** Easy walk through downtown to the Stevens Creek Trail as the light goes gold. This is the talking stretch — we mix the line up so you meet more than one person. **8:00 — Footbridges & Sunset.** The trail's footbridges over the creek, light coming sideways through the trees. We pick a spot and watch the sun go down together. Whistleblower on Mass Graves @ Miranda’s “Rescue” - What Happened & What to Do

Miranda’s “no-kill rescue” in Humboldt County has been exposed for shooting hundreds of dogs and burying them in mass graves. For over 20 years, Jennifer Raymond has been trying to hold the “rescue” accountable. Her concerns were ignored until she and her friend, Jenna Moore, snuck onto the property and dug up the bodies of eight freshly-killed dogs. This heart-wrenching situation is still unfolding and at this Meetup we will hear from Jennifer about her experiences and the history of her efforts to expose Mirandas. We will also hear from Kevin Johnson, founder of Coffee Companions, and Dan Martinez, founder of Adopt my Block, about how we can help hold Miranda’s accountable and how we can support legitimate rescue organizations. Sunday Kickball @ Bushrod Park!

BASS presents our favorite event, kickball! We will be at our normal spot in the East Bay at Bushrod Park in Oakland! Bring your soccer cleats (for better grip on the field), sunscreen, and athletic wear and water for a fun time out! For those who haven't played kickball before, the rules will be explained and demonstrated before we start. Depending on the attendance, we'll either have 2 teams facing off or a rotation of 3 teams all together. Then after we may hit the local pizza/bar scene if everyone still wants to hang out. We have a HARD START at 1pm, so please be sure to show up on time for warmups! Kick back at the smaller beach near our picnic site—nap under the trees, sip something cold, chat with friends in the shade, or just relax and enjoy our never-ending playlist of great music. Afternoon Berkeley Marina Stroll

**WHAT:** AFTERNOON BERKELEY MARINA STROLL: walking, snacks, engaging conversations. Saturday, 8/1/26, 3:00-5:00 **WHERE:** Berkeley Marina. Take University to the traffic circle to Marina Blvd (It is a right turn at the traffic circle). Take the very next left to park near the Berkeley G and F docks. Please look it up before driving, as GPS may be unreliable. Park in the long lot that faces the marina boats located before the Doubletree parking lot. **WHEN:** Saturday afternoon, 08/01/26 3:00 - 5:00PM. (ARRIVE a few minutes early to park) The walk will start up at 3:10 PM , going towards the Bay. **BRING:** You can bring snacks to share, and hopefully a few people can bring a blanket to share with others. Also, bring a JACKET: this time of day is usually sunny, but the bay can get foggy and cool sometimes. **DESCRIPTION:** We thought it would be fun to walk by the bay, talk, and foster some good conversations within our group. This time, guided by a few of the “36 Questions” as an inspiration, we will have the aim of being curious and open. This is an opportunity to listen to others, learn, and share our own thoughts while walking in the beautiful Berkeley Marina with sweeping views across the water. We all know that long-term friendships and relationships develop over time, and each one creates their own loyalty, trust, and depth. However, this walk may offer potential for new insights, inspiration, and future friendships. We’ll share a question in small groups of 2-4 people and then switch every so often. You do not need to stay on topic though, just enjoy yourself and the people around you! What are the 36 Questions? A team of researchers published a paper in the 90’s about a series of experiments where strangers got to know each other as they progressed through 36-questions that were designed to foster interconnectedness. Most people who engaged with these questions reported that they enjoyed their time. Apparently, a few of the subjects who participated in the whole study developed lasting attachments and partnerships.
