Coastal Cleanup Day at Shimada Friendship Park

By caring for our shoreline, we're protecting the places where people and wildlife can thrive together. We're also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the California Coastal Act, the landmark law that has protected California's coast by preserving habitats, safeguarding wildlife, and ensuring public access to our shorelines. Participating in Coastal Cleanup Day is one way we can continue that legacy, helping protect the coast and Bay we all love for generations to come. A huge part of Coastal Cleanup Day is collecting data that helps scientists, communities, and policymakers better understand and prevent marine debris. Along with removing trash, volunteers will participate in interactive educational activities to learn how their efforts contribute to healthier ecosystems and cleaner waterways. Please wear layers, a hat and/or sunscreen, and closed-toe shoes. Cleanup supplies will be provided, but if you have them, please bring a bucket, reusable gloves, and a reusable water bottle to help us reduce waste. Sunday Kickball @ Bushrod Park!

BASS presents our favorite event, kickball! We will be at our normal spot in the East Bay at Bushrod Park in Oakland! Bring your soccer cleats (for better grip on the field), sunscreen, and athletic wear and water for a fun time out! For those who haven't played kickball before, the rules will be explained and demonstrated before we start. Depending on the attendance, we'll either have 2 teams facing off or a rotation of 3 teams all together. Then after we may hit the local pizza/bar scene if everyone still wants to hang out. We have a HARD START at 1pm, so please be sure to show up on time for warmups!
