Improv Jam Session | Beginner-Friendly Game Day

Join us for a fun day of improv games! This is a free, beginner-friendly jam session (not a formal class). We try to get together about once a month and play games. As always, nobody is forced to participate but highly encouraged to jump in and play. **What to expect:** * Improv - short for improvisational theater - is a form of live performance where characters, dialogue, and scenes are created in the moment. * We’ll have a mix of warm-up games, learn about character development, physical comedy, and storytelling. * Depending on audience participation, we’re planning about an 1.5-2 hour session. **Where and when:** * Sunday, August 23rd - meeting at 2:00pm, games start at 2:15pm. * William McKinley Monument in NoPa: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gSDmnZA9md6r5orU9 * We’re planning to use the space in front of the monument as our “stage”. Meetup: ALL THE DOGS ARE FREE! Celebration of Ridglan Farms Shutting Down

Ridglan Farms is finally shutting down and by the date of this Meetup the last \~150 beagles will have left their cages to begin their new lives! This historic win for animals follows nearly 10 years of activism, dedication, and hard work by numerous individuals and organizations! In 2017 Direct Action Everywhere investigated and exposed for the first time what Ridglan was doing to dogs. Over the years, various local organizations like Dane4Dogs formed in Wisconsin to fight for the Ridglan dogs and other national groups like the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project and Big Dog Ranch Rescue joined our efforts. People once laughed at the idea that we would ever save the Ridglan dogs, but now they will all be safe, happy and free. Let's celebrate! Come hang out with some of the Ridglan rescues, enjoy vegan cake, and hear from Zoe Rosenberg about the history of this campaign. Protest of Meyenberg Goats' Milk at Whole Foods Berkeley on Telegraph

Sally Zito, Carla Cabral, Tajinder Uppal and Joseph Allman all face up to 6.5 year in prison for taking two sick, baby goats named Phoebe and Celia to receive medical care after removing them from a factory farm with over 9,000 goats being exploited for their milk. Vera Goat Dairy exploits goats to make Meyenberg Goats’ Milk which is sold at Whole Foods and many other stores. Famous LA grocer Erewhon, recently cut ties with Meyenberg as they should but Whole Foods refuses to do the same, so we will shame them for their inaction. We’ll have a ten foot tall Meyenberg Milk Carton with images from its “dead pile” where they mound baby and mother goats in a pile where their bodies are eaten by local dogs - as these investigators captured on hidden video cameras. We will do a “die-in” around it to bring attention to this goat graveyard. Join us for games of **GAGA**! Gaga is similar to handball and is a low-impact, fast moving fun game that rotates players quickly, so its a great way to meet new people and keep moving! If a player is hit above the knees, the play continues.* * *Players cannot hold the ball* If you have any other games like spike ball, cornhole, or soccer or volleyballs, please feel free to bring them as well!
