Come and Join SWAP CIRCLE and BAMPFA for an afternoon of shared community, creative exchange and joy! This isn’t just a clothing swap. It's an invitation to slow down, rethink how we consume, and build something more generous together. One garment at a time. + - How It Works & What to Bring Bring up to 20 special clothing or accessory items you know someone else would love. These will be “gifts” to your fellow swappers. (When you go through your closet, choose things you would proudly give a good friend). You will receive tokens for your accepted items, up to 20. You will have free access to use these tokens to then "shop" during the event. + - Accepted Items Clothing — items should be for adults (all genders) and clean; please do not bring workout gear, socks or undergarments, swimsuits, lingerie or children’s clothing. Accessories — includes purses, belts, sunglasses, scarves, hats (please do not bring jewelry) Mendable items are welcome. + - Please do not bring items on hangers. + - Drop Off We encourage participants to drop-off items at BAMPFA on Saturday, June 27 from 11am–4pm. When you drop off your items, you will receive tokens that will allow you to then “shop” the event on Sunday, June 28 from 1pm–4pm. - Our stylists will be reviewing all items, and you will receive tokens for your accepted items. One accepted item = one token. - You can also bring your items the day of the event beginning at 1pm. Note: you may be required to display your items before you start browsing, so dropping off beforehand is recommended. + -Important Information about parking in the area: It will be somewhat difficult to find parking in the area, so plan accordingly. + -RSVP is Required Event Website Link: [https://bampfa.org/event/swap-circle-bampfa-clothing-swap](https://bampfa.org/event/swap-circle-bampfa-clothing-swap)

Book 89: Tilt by Emma Pattee

This is another New York Times recommendation: “The most read New Yorker article of 2015 was Kathryn Schulz’s “The Really Big One,” about the potentially devastating Cascadia earthquake that has a 1-in-3 chance of striking the Pacific Northwest within the next 40 years. Taking this very real threat as its knockout premise, Emma Pattee’s debut novel, “Tilt,” is a moving adrenaline rush that also manages to be very funny. Looking forward to reading and discussing this one! -Jessica \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **How it works:** We’ll meet at a local brewery for some drinks and conversation. Finishing the book is not a requirement to attend—as long as you don't mind spoilers! We’ll have an unstructured, informal discussion of the book and the themes that the book brings up. We hope to see you there! \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- *Last night, you and I were safe. Last night, in another universe, your father and I stood fighting in the kitchen.* Annie is nine months pregnant and shopping for a crib at IKEA when a massive earthquake hits Portland, Oregon. With no way to reach her husband, no phone or money, and a city left in chaos, there’s nothing to do but walk. Making her way across the wreckage of Portland, Annie experiences human desperation and kindness: strangers offering help, a riot at a grocery store, and an unlikely friendship with a young mother. As she walks, Annie reflects on her struggling marriage, her disappointing career, and her anxiety about having a baby. If she can just make it home, she’s determined to change her life. “Shocking and full of heart” (Publishers Weekly, starred review), Tilt is a “moving adrenaline rush” (The New York Times Book Review) and “epic odyssey” (NPR) about the disappointments and desires we all carry, and what each of us will do for the people we love.

ATTENTION: We are now meeting in person again! Please follow current recommendations around mask usage to keep everyone safe. Masks are always welcome and accepted, no matter the current regulations. If you'd like to meet online check out our meeting on the first Wednesday of every month. It's that time again! Let's chit chat about the books we exchanged last time and welcome newcomers bringing their first book. If you've been before you know the deal, otherwise just bring a book to share and expect to say both a few words about it and why you want to share it.
