Come join us for a loop walk around the reservoir by Watershed Park, we will start at the JPL parking lot (at our usual spot), then walk thru the park, across Devils Gate dam and then circle back up again, getting a good look at all the water now in the reservoir and ponds! **Park and meet at the JPL parking lot, WATCH THE VIDEO LINK below to see where we park!** A few notes: This is a group hike that ***stays together*** as we hike. During the first two decades of the 20th Century Pasadena became the home of millionaires (who probably would be billionaires in today’s dollars). Chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr., David B. Gamble, son of James Gamble, founder of Proctor and Gamble, and Adolphus Busch of Budweiser fame, were some of the wealthiest families in the country. Many of these upper-class residents lived on Orange Grove Blvd. which, due to this extreme affluence, was nicknamed ‘Millionaire’s Row’. As ‘Millionaire’s Row’ grew, with dozens of opulent mansions of eight or ten bedrooms lining the street, the need for hired help increased dramatically. Mary Gamble and Ada Wrigley were not going to wash dishes and clothes, nor prepare meals for their families. There are plenty of amazing views in Silver Lake at night, including the Silver Lake reservoir. Let's get some steps in while socializing and making new connections. Strong winds/rain will cancel the event.
