**Instruments provided:** Pantheon Coffee in West Hollywood has agreed to host us, and they have a lovely upright piano that will be provided. Any other instruments you will have to bring with you. **What to play:** In terms of what counts as classical music - use your best judgment! I'm not going to be a stickler here. Feel free to play something you're currently working on, even if it's just a few pages. You can have it memorized or not, up to you. Depending on the number of performers, I may set a time limit of 5-7 minutes per person, but that will vary depending on attendance. Duets and trios are totally fine; vocalists are also welcome as well. **Drinks/food:** The cafe has light pastries, sandwiches (if still available at the end of the day), coffees, and teas. It's a lovely place! Feel free to ask me if you have any questions. Look forward to seeing you!

This class is essential for you. Speed up the learning process, “cut to the chase” and enroll in our new Sight Size measuring for the figurative artist and become a “Classical Illusionist” Painting the cast using Sight-Size develops the ability to see shapes and proportions accurately, by continuously comparing the drawn shapes with the cast. This class will develop the accuracy of drawing skills, the ability to correctly judge and paint values, and finesse transitional tones and edges to give the painting the illusion of three-dimensions. The three main objectives of this class: 1\. Drawing \- draw the shapes of the cast in correct proportion\, beginning with the big shapes then the smaller shapes\. 2\. Values\- Learn to correctly judge values by using 5\-7 tone scale which we will mix on the palette\. We will begin by first establishing the three major value relationships: the light shape\, the shadow shape and the background\. 3\. The Illusion of three\-dimensions: Finally we paint the transitional halftones and soften the edges of the form\. This step gives the painting three\-dimensional qualities\, and the form will take the 3D qualities of an object sitting in a space\. These are essential skills to have in your tool box as you move forward to painting portraits, still life, illustrations, etc. **What You'll Learn** Draw the shapes of the cast in correct proportion, beginning with the big shapes down to the small shapes. Techniques like the following will be applied: \- Learning how to draw in space \- take notes on the sculpture itself \- and get comfortable with the medium on a basic level in order to form a strong foundation from which to build upon\. This class will teach students how to quickly and efficiently construct a portrait bust in clay with the possibility of casting it in Plaster, Resin or even bronze for those willing. World of LA Bread, inaugural event: A Baker Survives!

**Guillaume Patard-Legendre**, one of the Los Angeles area’s finest young boulangers, lost his bakery and his home in 2025’s Eaton Fire. Join this engaging discussion of perseverance in the face of disaster as Guillaume describes his background, his dreams, his methods, his experience, and his determination to continue baking his breads and pastries for his community with the help of the superb resources that Los Angeles has to offer its bakers. \*\* Guillaume’s bakery, *Pain Beurre*, founded in 2024, was a mainstay of the Altadena community, providing local residents with an exceptional array of French breads and pastries, all created with organic ingredients and wild yeast. As word spread, his business expanded rapidly, with his home-baked goods available to a growing customer base in the greater Altadena area. All went according to this “new life plan” for Guillaume, his wife Darcy, and their two young daughters until January 2025, when the catastrophic Eaton Fire destroyed the entire community. Guillaume and Darcy were not spared: their home and the baking facility Guillaume had built for *Pain Beurre* in their garage burned to the ground. “The *Pain Beurre* journey,” according to Guillaume, “came to an abrupt halt.” But the community rallied around, encouraging him to find a way to resume production. Giullaume worked hard to develop a new strategy, reaching out to the community of bakers in greater Los Angeles. *Pain Beurre’s* plight came to the attention of World Central Kitchen, the international nonprofit organization founded by Chef José Andrés specifically to prepare food for the victims of disaster. WCK offered *Pain Beurre* baking facilities in a shared kitchen space, and Guillaume quickly resumed baking bread for his community. Guillaume now sells his bread exclusively through pop-up events in partnership with Los Angeles-area businesses. He returns to Altadena every Sunday morning to focus on his community, a community that needs this kind of support more than ever. **About World of Los Angeles Bread** Guillaume’s talk will be the first event in the LABB’s **World of Los Angeles Bread**, a series of talks, demonstrations, and tours, presented free of charge and devoted to enhancing LABB members’ understanding of the diversity of breads that are being baked on a daily basis here in Los Angeles.
