**Evening Walking Tour: Phones, Telegraphs and Letters around Berlin Mitte** **Theme:** Walking Tour + Communications + Industrial Heritage + Beer **Meet Time:** 18:00 **Meet Place:** Hackeshermarkt outside starbucks **Suggested Contribution:** €5 Join me on an evening historical walk through Berlin's communications district, exploring how messages, money, news and information moved around the city long before the internet. **The plan:** We'll grab a *Wegbier* and explore one of the most remarkable concentrations of communications infrastructure in Berlin-Mitte. Within just a few streets we'll encounter telegraph offices, telephone exchanges, postal infrastructure, pneumatic tubes, electrical systems and the institutions that helped connect Berlin to the rest of the world. We'll finish with a beer together at the Dieselhaus, surrounded by the remains of Berlin's old communications infrastructure. Berlin's rise as a modern metropolis depended on more than factories and railways. It also needed a way to communicate. Telegraph wires, telephone cables, pneumatic tubes, postal carriages and electrical networks created a new nervous system for the growing city. And remarkably, much of that nervous system is still visible around Oranienburger Straße. The enormous Haupttelegrafenamt was one of Europe's most powerful telecommunications centres. It also housed Berlin's central pneumatic-post facility, which remained in operation until 1977. From here, messages could travel rapidly across Berlin and beyond, while the building was also involved in the development of radio communications. Just around the corner is the extraordinary Postfuhramt. Built in 1875–81, it was far more than a place for horses and postal wagons. It contained a telegraph engineering office, a telephone exchange, a post and telegraph school and machinery for Berlin's pneumatic-post system. Its surviving boiler and machine house provide a glimpse into the technology that powered the communications network. We'll then explore the Fernsprechamt Berlin Nord, an imposing 1920s expressionist building created as Berlin's telephone network expanded rapidly and moved from human operators towards automatic switching. Alongside it stands the former Institut für Post- und Fernmeldewesen, built in 1958–63 for the East German Deutsche Post—a fascinating reminder that the communications infrastructure of Berlin continued to evolve through the division of the city. Finally, we'll look at the electrical infrastructure that made all of this possible, including the Umspannwerk Koppenplatz, before finishing at the Dieselhaus. If you like history, want to discover more about Berlin beyond the usual stories of the Nazis and the Cold War, and would like to take part in a sociable evening of exploration and discussion, come along. I am an accredited tour guide in Berlin, specialising in telling stories about the city's industrial heritage. I charge a small fee of €5 to organise the tour and share my knowledge. Highlights 📡 Discover the enormous Haupttelegrafenamt and learn how Berlin became one of Europe's great telecommunications centres 📨 Explore the Postfuhramt, where postal transport, telegraphy, telephones and pneumatic post all came together 💨 Discover the extraordinary story of Berlin's Rohrpost, which carried messages through tubes beneath the city ☎️ Visit the former Fernsprechamt Berlin Nord and discover how Berlin's telephone network moved from manual operators to automatic switching 🏛️ See the Institut für Post- und Fernmeldewesen and discover how telecommunications developed in East Germany 📻 Learn how Berlin's telegraph network became connected to the emerging world of radio communication ⚡ Explore the Umspannwerk Koppenplatz and discover why communications networks depended on reliable electricity 🏭 Discover the Dieselhaus, where emergency power helped keep the communications system running 🔌 Learn how electricity and communications became increasingly interconnected 📖 Hear stories of telegraph operators, telephone workers, postal employees, engineers and the people who built Berlin's communications networks 🏙️ Explore how communications infrastructure helped transform Berlin into a modern metropolis 📸 Enjoy fantastic photography opportunities among some of Mitte's most unusual industrial and institutional architecture 🍺 Finish with a relaxed drink together at the Dieselhaus I estimate the walk will take around 2½ hours, including plenty of stops for stories, photographs and discussion. It should make for a fascinating Friday evening exploring a side of Berlin that is hiding in plain sight: the infrastructure that allowed a modern city to talk to itself—and to the rest of the world. Hope to see you there! Simon

Sat, Aug 29, 12:00 PM
From Yogicescape Yoga And Wellness Studio

## [Booking Link](https://www.yogicescape.de/en/events/shamanic-ceremony)Shamanic Ceremony The Shamanic Ceremony typically begins with setting a sacred space, participants will be invited to sit comfortably while the facilitator introduce the steps of the Ceremony explaining the different elements while serving Blue Lotus tea. Through the harmonious blend of the tea, the ancestral rhythm of the drum and sacred tobacco, this ceremony provides a safe space for releasing old patterns and setting intentions for the new year ## Why Join: * Intention Setting: Participants are encouraged to set personal intentions for the ceremony, focusing on areas of life where healing or guidance is desired. * The Blue Lotus Tea will be offered to facilitate an hypnotic experience. * Invocation of Spirits: The facilitator will call upon spiritual guides, ancestors, or the elements to support and protect the space. * Sacred Tobacco Ritual: In this part of the ceremony, sacred tobacco will be offered through Shamanic Snuff * Shamanic Drum: As participants relax the sound of the drum will allow a deeper connection with the unconscious Self, the frequencies will strength the channeling meditative messages * Integration and Sharing: After the ceremony, participants are encouraged to share their experiences and insights, helping to integrate the healing process into their daily lives ## About Sacred Offering * Plants hold a living “spiritual matrix” with unique energies that influence body, mind, and spirit. * Psychoactive plants mirror human neurotransmitters, reflecting deep human–nature communion. * Sacred Tobacco (Rapé): Air Medicine received through breath; enhances perception, clears upper energy channels, supports detox and pineal decalcification. * Blue Lotus: Heart-opening gateway to deeper realms; warm, aromatic, gently bitter; moves stagnant emotions, supports digestive and heart-centered detox; carries ancient wisdom of our essential nature. * Humans and plants co-evolved with solar and seasonal rhythms; rhythmic practices (drumming, trance, meditation) reconnect us to archetypal consciousness and shamanic ecstatic states.
