Jamaica Bay Bike Loop with Miramar Ski Club

The Jamaica Bay Greenway Loop is a scenic, mostly flat 22 mile multi-use recreational path that encircles Jamaica Bay through parts of Brooklyn and Queens. Terrain is predominately flat paved paths, greenways, and boardwalks with minimal elevation change. Difficulty is moderate due to length, though physically accessible for most regular riders. Landmarks include Floyd Bennett Field, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Rockaway Beach Boardwalk, Jacob Riis Park, and Shirley Chisholm State Park. Outdoorsy drinks at the Baylander

Let's meet up for one of the final drinks events outdoors. Baylander will probably close sometime in October for the season so let's get one last sunset on the Baylander! Everyone is welcome to come! I know there will be one other group that night. I had originally drafted this and had a date set but wasn't going to post it until our drinks this week but alas we both had the same idea of going to the Baylander one last time. Sunset is at 6:40 hence why I am starting this meetup at 6:30. Bring a warm coat in case it is chilly at night. This is an outdoor bar. Rain moves this event to the Expat nearby. **HIKING KAATERSKILL FALLS LOOP** Enjoy this 4.4-mile loop trail with 946 feet elevation gain near Haines Falls, New York. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 18 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. Begin from Scutt Road Trailhead and start up the Escarpment Trail. Continue onto Schutt Road and Yellow Horse Trail before meeting back up with Escarpment. This stretch will lead to Inspiration Point. Return back via Escarpment Trail passing by Layman's Monument and detouring off to an overlook of Kaaterskill Falls. Anthony's Nose Hike!

Let's meet up to hike Anthony's Nose! We will be taking the 6:56AM train from grand central that gets into Manitou at 8:10 AM. We will meet at the Manitou train station and depart from the station at 8:15AM. I will post my cell number in the comments the day before. The hike itself is ~2.5 mile round trip. The walk from the Manitou train station to the Anthony's nose trail head is about 1.7 miles, making the total out and back (ending back at manitou station) ~6 miles. I will keep my eye on the weather to make sure no rain in the forecast. Bring hiking boots, water, and snacks. 🙂 🥾🍁
