Pop-up Book Club 6: Flannery O'Connor: The Complete Stories

Let's meet and discuss some of Flannery O'Connor's stories! Selections are from The Complete Stories anthology, available at local libraries. I am adding a second tranche of stories: The Turkey; The Lame Shall Enter First; The Enduring Chill; A Good Man Is Hard to Find. The first four stories are: The River; Good Country People; Everything that Rises Must Converge; Revelation.

The Completely Series - (A.M.) Field Shoot - Franklin Park Conservatory

Franklin Park Conservatory opens at 10:00 am but we will plan to meet at 9:00 am to walk the grounds before going in (you will have to purchase your own ticket). These events on the schedule are to serve three purposes: 1. These will serve as field shoots targeted at The Completely Series homework. Generally, each of these shoots will focus on the homework assigned in the two prior weeks. So locations and topics will be picked to match those expectations. 2. Additionally, these events are to serve as placeholders for TIME OF DAY. They are intended to be modified as needed to capture SUNRISE and/or EARLY MORNING light. They will likely be modified to time out for the IDEAL light on that day, at that location. EXPECT THEM TO BE MODIFIED as the time of year changes and/or schedule conflicts occur. But THERE WILL BE at least one morning shoot per month. 3. Lastly, they are also to serve as semi-monthly morning shoots for the group as a whole. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE IN THE COMPLETELY SERIES to attend any of these morning field shoots. Locations and specifics will be updated as the event date approaches.

Conversation and Coffee @ Belle's Bread Bakery

Hey Everyone! Let's meet at Belle's Bread Bakery and Cafe. There is lots of free parking and easy access to the cafe and many shops and restaurants as well. This is a great way to meet new and old friends while chatting about life and practicing English language speaking skills. All are welcome and encouraged to join us anytime between 11am and 1pm. Located close to Franklin Park Conservatory, this will be a nice place to get a bite to eat. Opportunity to gather post-meeting, tell stories (mostly lies), ask questions about burning photography/post-production issues, and ponder the future of our country and planet. Oh, and food... Location and time to be determined based on the specifics of the shoot immediately preceding this event.

Columbus Museum of Art, Free Admission Sundays

Let’s meet and wander the galleries! General admission on Sundays is free. We'll be meeting in the sculpture garden area at the meeting time, which is just outside the cafe area by the main entry. When you approach the front desk/main entry area there will be some seating just outside the cafe area. If you can meet us there by 11:15 we'll head into the gallery area as a group, but if you arrive after that time feel free to message us through the meetup app, and we'll do our best to connect you with the group!
