Afterwork cultural Picnic @ Monbijoupark
Fri, Jul 17, 4:00 PMHi everyone, Berlin Lingua Hub’s **Afterwork Cultural Picnic** is back, finally!!! Twice a month, we’ll meet at **Monbijou Park** for a relaxed evening of **good conversations, new connections, and cultural exchange**. **What’s the idea?** We keep it simple: **bring your favorite drinks or snacks**, enjoy a laid-back picnic, and connect with people from all over the world. Whether you’re new in Berlin or have been here for years, this is a great way to meet interesting people in a relaxed atmosphere. **What about languages?** This is not a structured Sprachcafé, but since Berlin Lingua Hub is all about languages and cultural exchange, you’ll naturally find people speaking different languages. Feel free to practice, mix languages, or simply enjoy great conversations in any language you’re comfortable with. **When & Where?** 📍 **Monbijou Park** – Meeting point is at the west right corner of the park, alongside the Oranienburger Str. You'll see some Berlin Lingua Hub signs. 🕡 **From 18:00 onwards** – open-end, stay as long as you like Since this is an **outdoor event**, it’s **weather-dependent**. If any changes happen, we’ll update you on the same day. Looking forward to welcoming you all for **a great mix of cultures, languages, and good vibes!** If you're lost, contact Chris! He'll be happy to help you find the place :) **See you soon!** Nacho

Brunch, Lecture & Many Shades of Grès Fashion Becomes Art Exhibition
Sat, Jul 18, 9:30 AMJoin us for a thought-provoking Saturday exploring the women who turned fashion into art — from the ateliers of Paris to a landmark exhibition here in Berlin. 📋 **Agenda** 🥐 **Brunch & Lecture: When Art Meets Fashion** — We'll meet for a cosy brunch with fresh pastries, and coffee/tea — included in the participation fee. Alongside, I'll trace the women who turned fashion into art — from Rose Bertin, Marie Antoinette's "Minister of Fashion," to Schiaparelli and Chanel, and through to Iris van Herpen today — showing how they used cloth the way sculptors use stone, and challenged what fashion was allowed to mean. 🖼️ **Many Shades of Grès: Fashion Becomes Art at Kunstgewerbemuseum**: Then we'll head to the Kulturforum for the first exhibition of its kind in the German-speaking world dedicated to Madame Grès — one of the most important couturières of the 20th century, who once said her scissors were her most important tool. The show brings together 25 of her draped, sculptural gowns alongside ancient sculpture and paintings from the Antikensammlung and Gemäldegalerie — placing her work in direct dialogue with the classical forms that inspired it. 📅 **Date & Time:** Saturday, 18.07 · 11:30 📍 **Brunch location:** Exact address shared with attendees 1 day before the event 📍 **Exhibition:** Kunstgewerbemuseum, Kulturforum, Johanna und Eduard Arnhold Platz, 10785 Berlin 💶 **Participation Fee:** 30 EUR (brunch included; exhibition entry not included — tickets available at the museum) 📌 **RSVP required** — intimate group, spots are limited 📸 **Photos & video -** By registering, you acknowledge that photos and videos may be taken during the event for promotional and archival purposes. If you'd prefer not to be photographed, or not to have your image published, just let me know on the event day and I'll make sure to respect that. ✅ **Event Info & FAQ** 🕐 **How long will it last?** The full experience runs approximately 4–5 hours, including brunch, lecture, and exhibition visit. 💶 **Payment — How do I pay?** Participation fee is paid on the day — cash or PayPal. Exhibition entry is paid separately at the museum. If your plans change, please update your status to "Not Going" so someone on the waiting list can take your spot. 🙏 ⚠️ **Limited Spots:** To keep the group intimate and allow for conversation, spaces are limited. Please cancel if you can't attend so someone else may join. ⏰ **Respect & Punctuality:** Please arrive on time and be mindful of the group. 🥐 **Can I join only for brunch or only for the exhibition?** No — it's one full shared experience. ❗ **What if I show up without signing up?** Unfortunately a spot can't be guaranteed. Only confirmed RSVPs are accepted. ✨ Meet Yuliya, the founder of Berlin Ladies Art Culture — a growing community of over 2,000 women passionate about art, culture, and meaningful connection. Thu, Jul 23, 5:00 PMHey fellow Dragons! ++++++++ Interested in Chinese/German? ++++++++ Learning Chinese/German and need to practice or find language-tandem partners? Interested in cultural exchange? Want to meet awesome internationals? …Or just want to get tips on where to find good Chinese food in Berlin? Whatever the reason, come join us! The more the merrier: such is the Chinese way! ++++++++++++++++ New Website ++++++++++++++++ We have our own community website now. It's hosted in Germany with better privacy guidelines and allows us to have more features than we currently have here. https://www.dragon-descendants.de/ Please think about registering there too and if you are awesome, use the RSVP function there too. In the long run we do plan to migrate permanently to the new site. ++++++++++++++++ Our meetup structure ++++++++++++++++ Our meetup is relatively unstructured. Groups often form organically and evolve and move throughout the evening consisting of members learning Chinese/German, members who are fluent/native, and the rest who are here to socialize in whatever language they're comfortable with and jumping into whichever conversation they find themselves in. We try our best to fulfil everyone's expectations so we can all benefit from the meetup and have a good time; if you have any suggestions or ideas (such as outings!) please don't hesitate to let us know! :) +++ No time on Thursday's? +++ We meet every second Thursday, but we sometimes have other events, which are not regular and occur on different days/at different locations. Stay tuned for announcements! Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones :) Cheers & 回头见 Yimu & Xuedi
