First introduced to the West in 1967 by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the San Francisco Ratha Yatra has become a beloved annual tradition of music, devotion, community, and celebration. At the heart of the festival is Lord Jagannฤtha, whose name means "Lord of the Universe." As the beautifully decorated chariots make their way through Golden Gate Park, thousands come together to sing kฤซrtan, dance, and experience the uplifting atmosphere of bhakti. The Vedic scriptures describe the special significance of this festival: "Simply by seeing the Lord on His chariot, one makes advancement on the path toward freedom from the cycle of birth and death." Whether you're discovering bhakti for the first time or returning to this cherished tradition, Ratha Yatra is an opportunity to connect through sacred sound, joyful celebration, and the timeless culture of devotion. โœจ Everyone is welcome. Admission is completely FREE. We hope you'll join the Bhakti SF community as we celebrate this beautiful day together. Bring your friends, your family, and an open heartโ€”we'll see you at the chariots!
