Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节), a traditional Chinese festival that honours the full moon, family reunion, and the beauty of the autumn season. Rooted in centuries of stories and symbolism, it is a time for gathering, sharing, and reflecting under the brightest moon of the year. Mooncakes are traditionally shared as symbols of unity and togetherness, while tea is enjoyed in quiet appreciation. Lanterns also play an important role in the festival—glowing decorations that light up homes and streets, symbolising hope, joy, and reunion as people come together to admire the full moon. You will have the chance to create and take home your own lantern. Mexican Culture Day \| Tacos\, Mariachi\, Rooftop and New Friends Saturday 19 September We're taking a group to one of London's best cultural food and music events of the year. We meet first, we connect first, and we walk in together. You don't need to know anyone. You just need to show up. The Quick Guide Date: Saturday 19 September Meeting Point: Stratford Station, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park exit. Meeting Time: 2:30pm Event: We spend time together in the park first then walk to the London Taco Experience as a group for the evening session, 5pm until 10pm. Valid photo ID required on the door. The Day 2:30pm, meet at Stratford Station at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park exit. It is clearly signposted inside the station. We walk through Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park together and find our spot on the Sun Lawn. For the next two and a half hours this is our time. We explore Mexican culture together through conversation, connection cards and shared stories. No awkward silences. No standing around not knowing what to do. Just real people getting to know each other properly before the evening begins. At 5pm we walk into the London Taco Experience together. The London Taco Experience Six of London's best taco traders. A live Mariachi band. DJs all evening. Margaritas, Micheladas and a Hot Sauce Showcase. A stunning rooftop terrace overlooking the Olympic Park. This is a proper celebration and you will be right in the middle of it with people you already know by then. Tickets Your ticket into the London Taco Experience is £5 and must be booked directly by you as soon as possible. You will be booking the evening session which runs from 5pm to 10pm. READ THE DETAILS BELOW👇👇 ❇️ Note: This event is for **Languages in London community members** and their guests. **You'll need to have a Meetup confirmation** to attend this event and be in our WhatsApp group, to be updated of our exact location on the day of the picnic ❇️ Just like all our other events expect to meet a truly diverse and international 🌏 group of people, for a fun and social afternoon. Lots of people, lots of languages and lots of memorable conversations! **📍The Venue - we're going to be in Hyde Park** and we'll be there from 2pm 🕑 on Saturday afternoon. Our **exact location 🧭** will be confirmed on Saturday afternoon shortly before 2pm via our group WhatsApp "Broadcast" message. To join our WhatsApp group read the instructions further below. **📝 What to bring** - For yourself (and to share if you would like to), food / snacks, drinks, picnic mats / blankets and perhaps games to keep you even more entertained\! Unlike a WhatsApp Group, recipients cannot see each other or reply to everyone. ▶️ To join our Picnic WhatsApp group there are just 2 steps and you must complete both. Step 1 - Send a Message to Girish via your MeetUp account "Send Message" or "Chat" feature. Include your first name and mobile number, and request to be added to the "Languages in London Picnic" WhatsApp Group. Step 2 - You will receive a response from our WhatsApp confirming your that you've been added to the picnic group. **Then you need to add our WhatsApp mobile number to your own phones contacts list. This is required by WhatsApp so you can receive a Broadcast message and it isn't blocked as a spam message. If you don't follow this step you WILL NOT** **receive the message confirming our location in Hyde Park**. Finally, please don't post your mobile number in the Meetup group chat.
