Sketch Sutton Place Park!

Sutton Place Park is beautiful, quiet, and out-of-the-way. It has gorgeous views, but it's been 5 years since the group last visited, so let's get together and draw it! **We'll meet at the entrance to the park at 57th Street and Sutton Place. Be careful not to accidentally go to the other part of the park, several blocks lower.** Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at 646-831-9816. Looking forward to sketching with you! *** IMPORTANT: In case of rain, I will let people know early in the morning if it is canceled, and then reschedule for another day. *** What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? There's no instruction, but we like to share our work, and chat and be inspired. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment where all levels of artists are welcome! Don't be shy to ask anyone anything! • We sketch for a bit, usually 45 minutes or so, and then get back together and share our drawings, and then sketch again, etc. There's usually time for 3 sketches. • Please bring your own supplies - anything you like to work with - pens, pencil, watercolor, pastel, small sketchbook or large paper, iPad, whatever suits you. • We hand out nametags so everyone can meet one another! • We take photos to share on the site later. Take a bunch! • Sorry, but please leave the dogs at home; they tend to step on the artwork. SECOND TUESDAYS Life Drawing Session

Grab your pad and drawing tools and escape the world for a couple of hours with your friends at The Old Stone House Park! Draw the human figure! Join us for a 2 1/2 hour life drawing session, 1 & 1/2 hour of gestures and short poses, ending with 1 hour of long poses, give or take. Bring your tools (no acrylics, oils or sprays please). Broadway, Tip to Top: Van Cortlandt Park

*Welcome to the finale of the 2026 Broadway: Tip to Top series!* Let's close out our trek across the city with Van Cortlandt Park, where the 1 ends and Broadway continues on into Yonkers. The Van Cortland House Museum is right here, as is the pool, though I can't imagine they'll let you take a dip with your paints! And of course there's the natural splendor of NYC's third largest park, I guess, if green's your favorite color! We'll switch our if summer hours given that it's a bit of a trek to get to by 10am. Our meeting point will be at the park entrance directly opposite 242nd st. Check in with me on-site so I know who's attending, and then we'll disperse to our individual painting spots. At 2pm, we'll meet back up to show off our art and discuss the day. Gather your materials (watercolor, oils, gouache, acrylics, marker: all are welcome) and join with other artists for the joys and challenges of painting outside!

Instructed Drawing Night at the Met

Instructed Drawing Night at the Met focuses on charcoal pencil drawing through close study of the museum’s Greek and Roman figure sculptures. Our instructor, Elizabeth Johnson, will guide students in developing technical control of charcoal pencils while working from these classical forms. After a brief demonstration, students will create charcoal drawings around the gallery with guidance from the instructor. Materials: Charcoal Pencils only\*\*\* (HB and 4B) 2H graphite pencil Small & Medium blending stump Kneaded eraser Eraser Drawing paper This event is not affiliated with Met Museum educators. Intermediate Figure Drawing (3 sessions)

Class dates: September 14\, 21\, & 28 \| 6:30\-9:30pm Learn to shade and render complex forms on the human figure in graphite, working with one model and the same pose for three sessions. Gaby will guide you from capturing accurate gesture and proportion, to understanding light physics and gradients to render realistic volumes. This class is suited for intermediate and advanced artists. Demos and individual critiques daily. **Materials:** Strathmore 400 series Drawing Paper, smallest 9”x12” or largest 18”x24” 4H, 2H, H, HB pencils (Staedler brand recommended) Kneaded eraser Tombow mono zero eraser, round tip (highly recommended)

Bodies Of Work: Figure Drawing

Join us for an evening of drawing from a live model. **Bodies of Work** is a figure drawing series focused on celebrating the dynamic human body. We're fascinated with how the body works, and we feel like you just might be too. We work with models who have a physical practice: boxers, climbers, dancers, lifters, athletes. Poses are directed to put the body's mechanics on display. This event is hosted by Dan Boterashvili of Harvest Strength Training, a personal trainer and visual artist, alongside Alexander Singer, community engagement professional and bartender. We will also be providing basic materials and a limited amount of drawing boards. **Every experience level welcome, first-timers welcomed.** **Doors open at 6:40pm.
