Using a restrained palette of just six colors, the paintings suggest rather than explain, and invite rather than provoke. The works in this exhibition do not follow a predetermined theme; instead, they serve as waypoints along a single year—a year in which much changed for the artist all at once: a new city, a new artistic direction, and, in December, the birth of her first child. In this sense, a specific quality emerges as the underlying theme: constant change. A transition from the familiar into the unknown, from a state of waiting into a process of becoming. The exhibition invites viewers to pause for a moment and sense how, in that very stillness, time and space begin to unfold. **About Anna Zender** *"At the heart of my art lies a longing to translate atmosphere and emotion into painting. My fascination with feminine nature and beauty—in all their diversity—serves as a major source of inspiration, while music acts as my primary driving force."* Anna Zender first encountered portrait painting during her industrial design studies at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (Saale). In 2020, she independently organized and hosted her first solo art exhibition, laying the foundation for her career as a freelance artist. This was followed by two further major exhibitions, each of which she documented through a short film. Driven by the vision of pursuing art as her true calling, Anna’s journey took her from Halle to Berlin and eventually back to her home region. Born in 1997 in St. Wendel, Saarland, she opened "Galerie 32" in 2023—a space that, until 2026, serves as a combined studio, workshop venue, and exhibition gallery. This year, the artist has relocated her base back to Berlin, where she continues to work on her latest series of paintings.

Lætitia will introduce Desire, a dialogue between Franziska Reinbothe and Laura Sachs, herself — in English. 🖼️ ASPN – FRANZISKA KOCH: thick of things Before she studied painting at Leipzig's Academy of Visual Arts, Franziska Koch trained as a clinical psychologist. Now based in Leipzig, she works in oil on canvas — come and see what a painter with a therapist's eye brings to the canvas. 👩‍🎨 Studio visit – NORA MONA BACH Winner of the 2024 Art Prize of Saxony-Anhalt, Nora Mona Bach creates large-scale landscapes from loose charcoal dust — some over two metres tall — that shift between the familiar and the unknown. **What if a lake floated in the sky, a staircase disappeared into the clouds, or mountains grew upside down?** In this four-week watercolour workshop, we'll explore imaginary landscapes that combine familiar places with unexpected elements, creating dreamlike scenes that exist somewhere between reality, fantasy, and the surreal. **Throughout the course, I'll introduce you to different watercolour techniques, including atmospheric washes, distant mountains, colour blending, and layering.** But this workshop is about more than painting techniques! We'll also play with our imagination through creative exercises inspired by the Dadaists and Surrealists: word games, free association, unexpected juxtapositions, changes of scale, and combinations of impossible images. These playful experiments will help us break away from familiar ways of seeing and discover new ideas for our paintings. Whether you dream of floating islands, strange forests, impossible architecture, or quiet places that feel vaguely familiar, you'll have the chance to develop your own visual language and create landscapes that tell a story.
