Punch Needle Embroidery Workshop

Punch Needle Embroidery Workshop

Sun, Jul 19, 9:45 AM
From Punch Needle Workshop over a glass of bubbly

Join me at a punch needle workshop where you'll learn a beautiful new craft over coffee, croissants, and a glass of bubbly on arrival. With just six participants per session, this one stays wonderfully intimate – I’ll give everyone plenty of individual guidance, so you'll leave with a real handle on the fundamentals and the confidence to keep creating at home. You'll work on a cherry tomato vine wall hanging, starting with practice materials to get the hang of the punch needle technique before moving on to your main piece. This is a lovely way to meet like-minded people who share a love of making, whether you come solo or bring a friend along – you’ll leave with new skills, fresh inspiration, and a few new creative friends too. Everything's included: yarn, fabric, punch needle tool, embroidery scissors, and a hoop, along with practice materials so you can build confidence before starting your finished piece. See you at the workshop! -Maria

🏺 Friend of Dorothy Pottery Workshop with Lucas Buttchewits

Fri, Jul 17, 5:30 PM
From Friend of Dorothy Events

### Make Pots. Meet Gay Men. Make Friends. This **Friend of Dorothy event** is about bringing **gay men together in real life to connect, create and build genuine friendships**. Join ceramic artist **Lucas Buttchewits** for a relaxed, hands-on introduction to pottery designed for all levels. Whether you’ve never touched clay before or already enjoy creative work, this workshop offers a welcoming space to try something new while meeting people through a shared experience. During the session you’ll explore traditional **hand-building techniques** including pinching, coiling and slab building to create your own tableware or decorative pieces. You’ll also experiment with decorating your work using **leaves and flowers to imprint natural textures**, before adding colour and personality using painted slip. Lucas will guide you through every stage of the process from shaping and decorating your piece to understanding how it will be **glazed and kiln-fired** after the workshop. But like all **Friend of Dorothy events**, this isn’t just about the activity. It’s about creating spaces where **gay men can meet, talk and form real connections outside of apps and bars**. With a small group and a relaxed creative atmosphere, it’s easy to chat, laugh and get to know the people around you. All materials, tools and firings are included, and your favourite piece will be **ready for collection a few weeks later**. Come get creative. Meet new people. Leave with something beautifully handmade and a little more connected ### Your Host ![Host image](https://dyjc3q172eyog.cloudfront.net/1773852744123_1qeyzdas.png) Lucas Buttchewits is a London-based ceramicist and creative facilitator known for his relaxed, accessible approach to pottery.
