Chess Club at Beverly Hills Le Pain Quotidien

Welcome! All levels can join whether you're a beginner or a grand master. We'll be at the big table in the middle of the restaurant. Some chess sets will be provided but feel free to bring your own equipment. Please RSVP with number of guests if you plan to attend. We play chess between 1:30 - 6:00PM. Psychology Book Club: The Undiscovered Self by Carl Jung!

We will be discussing **The Undiscovered Self by Carl Jung (it's a short book, so we'll do it at one go!)** at Caffe Bene (so you can eat/drink and converse at the same time). The goal of this monthly book club is to understand Jungian concepts + apply them to our own lives. This month's book is highly relevant to today's world, **as it discusses the deeply divided political atmosphere during the Cold War (sounds familiar?) and** **how understanding one's inner self can help prevent mass hysteria. DTLA Chess Club

Welcome! The DTLA Chess Club is a lovely gathering every Sunday afternoon! This casual club is completely free and open to everyone! For three years, the DTLA Chess Club has been meeting at the Il Cafe, a lovely coffee shop with food and beverage options. (they also have beer/wine) As this event is held on the outside patio, on street level, dress appropriate for the weather. It is a fantastic and friendly group that has the feel of the famous New York Central Park chess scene. You may even be lucky to meet some celebrity chess players! Drop in whenever, grab some games, and enjoy the beautiful Downtown architecture! Other Notes: -If it is raining, or incredibly windy, the DTLA Chess Club will be cancelled automatically, regardless if we remember to update meetup. -This club has seasonal tournaments, and will be announcing special events, which are planned to occur once a month on Friday evenings, so stay tuned! Lucky Bamboo Mahjong Club - Beginners Welcome!

This event will take place on the second floor of a building without an elevator. If you require assistance, please contact us at least 2 days before the event.** **Learn how to play *Hong Kong*-style mahjong in a non-competitive setting.** This club is open to people wishing to learn how to play mahjong with no prior experience. Some members of this club have attended previous meetings and returned to practice their skills before attempting to play more advanced mahjong events around LA. For beginners or those needing a refresher, an optional introductory mahjong presentation and demonstration will be given at **6:30 PM**. **Most people are able to play (and win!) mahjong on their own after this presentation.** Guided gameplay with other new players is offered after the presentation. Due to the need for 4 people per mahjong table and to avoid people reserving a seat but failing to show up, **we cannot offer refunds. Burbank Chess Social

Welcome to the Burbank Chess Social! We meet every Monday in McCambridge Park! Join us for either casual//competitive chess games---outside in a beautiful park! There are usually 18 or so of us, and most of us are entertaining enough. One of the things that makes this club unique, is the occasional grilling we do! Scrumptious food may be included, as members often bring food to share. (If you can't find us in the park, walk 2min in any direction until you spot chess players) It is officially called “area 1”, and Is near the basketball courts. Update: we are fantastic at grilling.
