Our Sunday Meetups are for **first time or inexperienced** paddlers, and for experienced paddlers who wish to focus on refining their technique. All equipment is provided, but be sure to bring a water bottle and wear clothes you don't mind getting a little wet, and a ZipLoc bag for your keys/phone. In order to RSVP a spot on the boat, please be sure to fill out the following forms before coming out. This will help us with preparing boat seating and enable us to notify you in the event that practice gets cancelled due to weather conditions. After you join, your profile will be established on TeamSnap, where you will see our full practice schedule and upcoming races and be notified of key announcements affecting our team. Shasta. This immersive class offers a rare opportunity to connect with nature and learn the art of wild mushroom identification in one of California's most pristine environments. While focusing on boletes, we will also learn other montane mushrooms, and the trees the various fungi are associated with. 10am-3pm (stand-alone half-day classes, not a series) **Where** Mount Shasta area. Please plan to drive up to an additional hour in carpools from our meeting point to where the mushrooms are, they move around as conditions change! Harvest up to 10 lbs of seaweed to take home and enjoy. From ancient times to the present, seaweeds have been used by coastal people all over the world to nourish themselves and their gardens, as well as for health issues. The Sonoma coast is incredibly rich in seaweeds that can be used as food and medicine. We will gather on the beach, review some common edible species, and head to where the sea meets shore to access and appreciate the abundant marine meadow growing on our coast. The class also includes community-building activities and will conclude with a cooking demo featuring several varieties of seaweed. Lawn bowling is mixture of bocce and curling, a relaxing sport that anyone can play. Head to Berkeley Lawn Bowling Club to try it out! Our introductory lessons occur every Sunday morning 10am (weather permitting) at our historic, serene, outdoor bowling club in Berkeley. Coaches are on hand to teach the basics and all equipment is provided. You'll be playing a match by the end of the session! No reservations needed just bring a desire to have some fun, flat soled shoes or sneakers and a hat. Let’s go look for them! We will learn about montane ecology, including fungi and plants, while targeting morels and spring porcini. This program will teach you foundational skills to be able to go foraging on your own. We will include a cooking demo, cover mushroom anatomy for identification, tree and plant identification, poisonous and edible mushrooms, and forest safety. Find the mythical “fairy fart” mushroom, the gorgeous purple cup fungi, and more! Fun for all ages. 3-5 miles on uneven terrain required.
