Our Sunday Meetups are for **first time or inexperienced** paddlers, and for experienced paddlers who wish to focus on refining their technique. All equipment is provided, but be sure to bring a water bottle and wear clothes you don't mind getting a little wet, and a ZipLoc bag for your keys/phone. In order to RSVP a spot on the boat, please be sure to fill out the following forms before coming out. This will help us with preparing boat seating and enable us to notify you in the event that practice gets cancelled due to weather conditions. Seaweed Foraging (Sonoma Coast)

Harvest up to 10 lbs of seaweed to take home and enjoy. From ancient times to the present, seaweeds have been used by coastal people all over the world to nourish themselves and their gardens, as well as for health issues. The Sonoma coast is incredibly rich in seaweeds that can be used as food and medicine. We will gather on the beach, review some common edible species, and head to where the sea meets shore to access and appreciate the abundant marine meadow growing on our coast. The class also includes community-building activities and will conclude with a cooking demo featuring several varieties of seaweed. Introduction to Lawn Bowling (Berkeley)

Lawn bowling is mixture of bocce and curling, a relaxing sport that anyone can play. Head to Berkeley Lawn Bowling Club to try it out! Our introductory lessons occur every Sunday morning 10am (weather permitting) at our historic, serene, outdoor bowling club in Berkeley. Coaches are on hand to teach the basics and all equipment is provided. You'll be playing a match by the end of the session! No reservations needed just bring a desire to have some fun, flat soled shoes or sneakers and a hat. Let’s go look for them! We will learn about montane ecology, including fungi and plants, while targeting morels and spring porcini. This program will teach you foundational skills to be able to go foraging on your own. We will include a cooking demo, cover mushroom anatomy for identification, tree and plant identification, poisonous and edible mushrooms, and forest safety. Sunday Kickball @ Bushrod Park!

BASS presents our favorite event, kickball! We will be at our normal spot in the East Bay at Bushrod Park in Oakland! Bring your soccer cleats (for better grip on the field), sunscreen, and athletic wear and water for a fun time out! For those who haven't played kickball before, the rules will be explained and demonstrated before we start. Depending on the attendance, we'll either have 2 teams facing off or a rotation of 3 teams all together. Then after we may hit the local pizza/bar scene if everyone still wants to hang out. We have a HARD START at 1pm, so please be sure to show up on time for warmups! (We also nearly lost the field last time because not enough people were there on time) See you there soon! 🔴 Note: Please, please, please don’t no show. 🙏 It makes these events really difficult to plan. If you no show once, you will be given lower priority for future events. The second time, you will be removed from the event list for any attendee limited event we host.

We’re still working to get more people into these Meetups, but our goal is to give PlayYourCourt members a few social tennis outings each week in addition to your practice sessions and Challenge League matches. These Meetups are co-ed, super laid back, and all skill levels are welcome. MLK Shoreline + Ferry, ˜20 miles (Ride #120)

Let's take a spin on MLK shoreline, along the beach on Alameda island, and back on the free ferry to Oakland. We’ll end in Jack London Square for food and drink. This flat ~20 mile route will be mostly on pleasant off-street paths with views of the Bay. We’ll gather outside Lake Merritt BART station between 9:30 and 9:45am, do introductions, and head out by 10:04am. Please make sure your bike is tuned up and ready for adventure. Dress for the weather and bring water, snacks, and money for our post-ride social gathering. No-shows are no bueno in our group; please keep your RSVP updated so folks on the waitlist can join. See you then!
