Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park Day Hike, French Trail Special

Roaming Lake Merced and the Dunes

This is a route we did about eighteen months ago, and I wanted to try it again. We start off in the Lakeshore district, close to the zoo, pass across Lake Merced, and tackle the dunes between Fort Funston and Great Highway. This roam is pretty flat, but we will have a fair amount of sand and dirt to traverse. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation. They are one way I am able to pay my rent in San Francisco.* *Punctuality is always appreciated, for the sake of everybody's time. Please send a message on the app before the start if you are running late, and we will either wait (up to ten minutes) of I will direct you on how to catch up. Once we get underway I have to focus on those who are there, and most likely won't respond.* *Generally half the people who sign up don't actually show up on the day. I do track flakiness and remove people who have a poor attendance record. Grand View and Strawberry

I have had this route in mind for a while. If you are looking south from the Richmond, just west of Park Presidio, there are only really two hills you see: one is Strawberry Hill in the park, the other Grand View at the northern end of Golden Gate Heights. We will tackle both hills (roughly numbers 10 and 20 in the list of San Francisco summits) on our way round; admire the tiled staircases; enjoy Blue Heron lake and the park; and explore a couple of alleys in the neighbourhood - which are very rare in the Sunset. Brickyard Cove to end of Bay Bridge via Bay Trail

We'll ride along the Bay Trail to Emeryville, go under the overpass, and work our way towards IKEA on Shellmound Dr., where we pick up the Bay Bridge Trail. We'll meet up at the end of the bridge, at the lookout. Most likely, we'll eat at (To be decided), on the way back, via Aquatic Park . If you have found the Seabreeze Cafe at the corner of University and Frontage Road, you're almost there. Continue across the unpaved parking lot to the new area of the park called Brickyard Cove. You'll find us in the new paved parking area.
