Ocean Beach 5K + Beach Chalet Hangout
Sun, May 31, 6:00 PMJoin us for a refreshing and fun 5K run along Ocean Beach! We’ll meet at the Beach Chalet, where you can safely drop off your shoes and belongings before we head out to the beach for our run. This is a relaxed, community-paced run on the sand. Feel free to go barefoot if you’re up for the full beach experience, or keep your shoes on if you prefer. We'll run south down to roughly around Quintara Street and then return to our starting point (so we'll finish the run where we started). After completing the 5K, we’ll head back to the Beach Chalet to grab drinks or enjoy a light meal together. It’s a great chance to unwind, socialize, and soak in the nice ocean breeze. **Notes:** * All paces welcome, but please note running in the sand is a bit more challenging * Barefoot running is optional * We’ll keep an eye on belongings, but please avoid bringing valuables Come for the run, stay for the good vibes 🌊 Please let me know if you have any questions! 628-236-9369

Harvest up to 10 lbs of seaweed to take home and enjoy. From ancient times to the present, seaweeds have been used by coastal people all over the world to nourish themselves and their gardens, as well as for health issues. The Sonoma coast is incredibly rich in seaweeds that can be used as food and medicine. We will gather on the beach, review some common edible species, and head to where the sea meets shore to access and appreciate the abundant marine meadow growing on our coast. The class also includes community-building activities and will conclude with a cooking demo featuring several varieties of seaweed.
