Thursday Nature Walk - Lobos Valley Overlook (Presidio)

What: A 2.3 mile slow walk with 338 feet of elevation gain. When: Every Thursday at 5:30pm Where: Meet at the Lobos Valley Overlook (just up the hill from the 15th Avenue Presidio entrance) Who: Anyone is welcome! Why: Real life connection...to nature and to the community I live in.

Ocean Beach Stroll

The latest SF 55+ San Francisco Walking Group event takes place on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. at Java Beach at the Zoo Cafe, 2650 Sloat Boulevard, San Francisco. The route is to walk 3 blocks down Sloat Blvd. to the Upper Great Highway recreation path, continue walking until Judah Street and then turn around and go back to Java Beach. The walk varies between 90 minutes and 2 hours. Java Beach has a bathroom and there is also a public bathroom at Judah Street at the foot of the path at the halfway mark of the walk. The host is Weeming Yee, known as "Wee." **Rain Policy:** Rain cancels the walk **Dog Policy:** dog-friendly walk **Intensity:** Easy & Flat Walk 50 ft of elevation change **Route**: Up Ocean Beach and back **Restrooms:** Beginning (Java Beach on Sloat), Public restrooms every 3 blocks along the Great Hwy. **Distance:** 4 miles **Walk Talk:** Conversational **Pre-Walk**: no activities before walk **Post-Walk**: no activities after walk **Parking**: Parking is easy. **Grace Period:** 5 minutes **Running Late:** We'll walk to the Upper Great Highway and head North on the side path. Berkeley Rock Formations Nature Walk 🌲🪨🌳

Millions of years before the first humans arrived, North Berkeley was strewn with rock formations. Today the area includes lovely parks where remnants of its geologic past can be seen. Come join me on hike with El Cerrito Trail Trekkers has they host and lead us around Berkeley to explore and see amazing rock formations and the beautiful nature in Berkeley. Walk Leader Rodney Paul will discuss the Native American presence in this area, the creation of the parks, and their role in the first housing developments. The walk is 1.5 miles, 300 feet elevation gain. Bring poles if needed. The tour ends at Great Stoneface Park a 15 minute walk from our start. Short Hike to Devil's Slide, followed by a picnic on the beach

\*\*REMINDER- This group is for people who are searching for a Chatbot-free lifestyle community.\*\*\*\*\*\* You're Invited!....Your chatbot is not. This trek offers history, nature, and maybe even mermaids! (As long as you keep your eyes peeled) We are going to be walking down the abandoned Highway 1- a wide open road directly on the Pacific coast that was closed permanently in 2014 and converted into the coolest walking trail in the whole damn Bay area! We'll make our way to Devil's slide and explore the Old Devil's Slide bunker (a former lookout point from World War 2). The trail is about 1.3 miles each way, so about 2.6 miles total. Very beginner-friendly way to get some fresh air and see breathtaking coastal views. After we hike....we picnic! We'll head over to Pacifica state beach and those of us who are brave enough will eat from the famous Taco Bell beach cantina. For everyone else, I will be bringing picnic snacks and playing cards Picnic contributions and blankets encouraged :) Come out and play! Let's go exploring.
