Lawyers on the Loose is a relaxed monthly networking walk designed to help you step away from your desk, reset your mind, and reconnect with the profession in a more human way. No panels. No pitches. No pressure. Just a 30-minute walk, a coffee if you want one, and good conversation with fellow lawyers. It’s a chance to recharge your energy for the afternoon while building real connections across the legal community. **What to expect** * A 30-minute casual walking break in the Sydney CBD * A chance to meet and connect with other lawyers * Fresh air, movement, and a mental reset before the afternoon * Optional coffee catch-up before we set off **When** Last Tuesday of every month 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm **Meeting Point** Top of the stairs at the Martin Place Station entrance on Elizabeth Street, Sydney. Join us for a **22km coastal challenge over Eastern Beaches** as we take on our unofficial attempt of the scenic 'Bloody Long Walk' (Sydney East route) and beyond on two weekends. Originally hosted by the Mito Foundation each November, we are tackling this spectacular coastal track our own way. This is a demanding, long-distance trek requiring high fitness and endurance, but the world-class ocean views are worth every step. Expect a 22km distance requiring a steady pace. The terrain features a diverse mix of coastal boardwalks, beach walking (sand), paved streets, stairs, and multiple headland ascents. * **Start:** 9:30 AM sharp at Pioneers Park (off Anzac Pde, near the Hillary Pde bus stop). Please arrive a few minutes early. **Finish:** Watson Bay for Ferry or Bus to the city. * **Route:** We will start at Pioneers Park and head down to Maroubra Beach, making our way north through Coogee and up to Bondi. From there, we join the famous coastal trail (which we recently completed from the opposite direction!), passing the stunning Diamond Bay and Hornby Lighthouse at Watsons Bay - to finish at Ferry Wharf. * **Gratuity:** A $5 contribution is appreciated to help cover our Meetup subscription and group running costs. **Magnificent Harbour Walk! - South Mosman Ferry Wharf to Spit Bridge 14KM** **This is one of the most scenic Harbour Walks in Sydney, with many great elements including new tracks to explore!**! **We** meet at **Circular Quay Wharf 4, Side A** by no later than **9:50AM** to catch **10:00AM ferry to South Mosman Ferry Wharf,** arriving 10:14AM. We make off through **Great Sirius Cove** and enter the Taronga Zoo Trail through to Bradleys Head. Taylors Bay and **Chowder Bay** follow, then it is out to **Middle Head** where we find **historical artillery gun emplacements,** tunnels and bunkers. There are fantastic views into the East Harbour, so we **stop at Middle Head here for our lunch break**. **MEMBERS MUST BRING LUNCH!** After lunch we skirt around naval base **HMAS Penguin**, and head down to **Balmoral Beach.** Up and over Wyargine Point, the route goes through Rosherville Park and **Chainman's Beach** before passing the **Parririwi Lighthouse**. **WHALES & WHALES!** In July/August, thousands of humpback whales migrate north from Antarctica to the warm breeding waters of tropical Australia. **Best for visibility! yes! photos yes!** Manly to North Head high point viewing areas are Sydney's top classified list for whale watching. Mornings when winds are typically lighter, making the ocean smoother, sun directly overhead, reducing ocean glare and making it easier to spot spouts and splashes. **BEAUTIFUL WHALE WATCHING WALK: my identical walk on both Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th pick one!!!** 1\. Don't miss this interesting Whale Walk\, "Spot the Whale" stops at five clifftop lookouts\. 2\. Marine Parade at Cabbage Tree Bay to Shelly Beach Walking Track\, 1st Whale Lookout\. 3\. Spotting Whales here at about 10\.30\, perfect timing\, lets hope it's spot time\, hey\! 4\. Shelly Head Lookout\, next on the list\, I'm feeling good\. Who's first to SPOT one\! 5\. Shelly Headland Upper Lookout\, a longer distance better view\. \(10km out to sea\) 6\. Shelly Beach to Barracks Precinct Walk\, past Old Quarry Swamp\, fun uphill hike\. 7\. We walk the "Hanging Swamp" if not flooded\, past the Battery Observation Post\. 8\. Eventually reaching the Fairfax Walk Trail\, 2nd highest point\, "Yiningma Lookout"\. 9\. Fairfax Track\, again reaching Number one\! "Burragula Lookout"\. \(Fairfax Lookout\) 10\. Lunch/Snack break coming up at "North Head Scenic Drive Point"\. 11\. Quick visit\, "North Head Sanctuary"\, before heading to "Third Quarantine Cemetery"\. 12\. Zigzagging down to Manly for a refreshing drink/lunch at yes\! "Hotel Steyne" 13\. **BASTILLE DAY WALK:** France's National Day, commemorates the storming of the Bastille Prison on July 14, 1789, a pivotal event in the French Revolution. **NOTE:** Celebrations continue (after the walk) until 10pm so hang around and enjoy the parties at the ROCKS! **WALK START from Central**, onward to **Belmore Park,** we walk through **Harmony Park** then past the **"Pool of Reflection"** we get to the **Anzac Memorial** at **Hyde Park**. Sneak through the back of **Saint Mary's Cathedral** then suddenly ahead is the bronze statue of **Robert Burn**, regarded as the national poet of Scotland. **Secret Pathways** to "The Big Matchsticks" sculpture in Woolloomooloo. 'Yes" we can touch them! Not far away is the **New South Wales Police Force Wall of Remembrance.** The names on the wall represent 350 policemen and policewomen in NSW who died on duty since 1850's. Quick 2 minute visit and rehydrate. **The Botanical Gardens and Government House**, **Garden Amphitheatre** behind Sydney's Conservatorium of Music to the **Calyx**, exhibiting floral displays. From here we zig zag through hidden gardens, past the Sydney Fernery to **Palm House**! **ARRIVAL at CIRCULAR QUAY BASTILLE PARTY** just in time to celebrate with the crowds, food and drink tastings, eat later. **Meeting Point:** Central Station's "Transport Information Big Board" near Platform 4. **Distance:** 8km **Difficulty:** Very Easy. 2 hour walk, exit spots. Paths Walk, Parks Walk! Easy Walk! **Walking Pace:** An easy steady pace at 4.25km-4.50km per hour. **What to Bring:** Comfortable outfit, good walking shoes, one litre water, snacks, hat, sunscreen, a raincoat just in case.
