Royal NP at its best! Waterfall to Loftus via Forest Walk, Palona Cave & Audley

**Are you looking for a bit of adventure? This might be the walk for you!** **We will start at Waterfall Train Station.** **From here we will follow the track to the Forest Walk, a shady track that makes its way around Forest Island. On our way, there is only one moderate climb and one creek crossing where we might get wet feet if there has been significant recent rain. Forest Island is a sheltered rainforest ecological environment with ferns, palms, mosses, and creek scenery to admire. At the end, we will have a break at the Palona Picnic Area.** **From here, we will make our way to Palona Cave. We will explore the cave, a large limestone overhang featuring columns, stalactites and a little waterfall (a bit of scrambling will probably be required if you’d like to explore the waterfall). We will have lunch here.** **Then we'll return to Lady Carrington Drive, which is the first scenic route to be built through the National Park. It follows the Hacking River and took 3 years to build, opening in 1886.** **This will take us to Audley, where there are toilets and a café. 🌊 Coastal Epic: The Unofficial 35km 'Bloody Long Walk' Challenge ~35KM

Join us for a massive **35km coastal challenge over Eastern Beaches** as we take on our unofficial attempt of the scenic 'Bloody Long Walk' (Sydney East route). Originally hosted by the Mito Foundation each November, we are tackling this spectacular coastal track our own way. This is a demanding, long-distance trek requiring high fitness and endurance, but the world-class ocean views are worth every step. The terrain features a diverse mix of coastal boardwalks, beach walking (sand), paved streets, stairs, and multiple headland ascents. * **Start:** 8:30 AM sharp at Pioneers Park (off Anzac Pde, near the Hillary Pde bus stop). Engadine to Heathcote via Woronora River, Mirang Pool and Lake Eckersley!

**If you like bush walking on unkept trails with a little bush-bashing, you’ll love this walk!** **We will meet at outside Engadine Train Station on the west side (for those of you directionally challenged, that is on the highway side platform of the station) at 9.30am sharp. The train from Central Leaves at 8.37am and arrives at Engadine at 9.27am** **From here we will walk through Engadine and make our way to the Ferntree Pipeline Trail.** **We follow it along for a while and then start our descend into the bush towards Heathcote Road. We will need to be VERY CAREFUL crossing this busy roadway as drivers do not expect pedestrians and tend to resist slowing down when they see one (don’t ask how I know, just accept that I know).** **Once we get to the other side (less those that didn’t make it Lol!), we will follow Scouters Mountain Trail down to the creek, cross it and then follow the rough fire trail which goes through a few ups and downs (actually, mostly ups).** **When the fire trail ends (rather abruptly), we bush-bash our way down to the Woronora River.** **We have lunch here on some very shady rocks next to the river, enjoying the bush environment. We might even see an echidna or two.** **Then we reunite with the Pipeline Track and follow it to Mirang Pool and then Lake Eckersley, a very tranquil corner of the Woronora River before returning the same way and continuing to Heathcote Train Station.** **There are some lovely views along the way with a wide-ranging number of native plants (a good deal of them in flower) and some native animals (which hang around close to the trail because it is not a common one).** **We will aim to finish at Heathcote by 3.30pm, maybe even earlier, and head to The Arbour for a well-earned drink, before catching a train back to the city.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISTANCE: About 15 kms.** **GRADE: Medium, with a few “up” hills.** **NOTE: No exit options along the way, unless in suburbia. This 17 km walk begins and ends at Cronulla train station! It is an easy , mainly flat,walk with some steps This is a beautiful coastal walk with stunning views. The Cronulla Ramble (often called the Cronulla Peninsula Ramble) is a scenic coastal walking route that loops around the Cronulla Peninsula in southern Sydney. 🥾 What it is * A walking circuit that links bays, beaches, parks, headlands and cliff-top paths * Popular with walkers, runners, school groups and bushwalking clubs * Mostly on sealed paths and formed tracks, with some stairs and gentle hills * 8 km beach walk 📍 Where it goes The ramble typically includes: * Cronulla Station (common start/finish) * Gunnamatta Bay & Gunnamatta Park * Darook Park * Hungry Point cliff-top walk * Shelly Beach * Cronulla Esplanade (along North Cronulla, Elouera and Wanda) * Boat Harbour Gratuity: $10 CASH or PAY ID: 0460715272 to Liz on the day. Winter Gelato Circuit! South Harbour Walk from Rose Bay to Leichhardt

**How better to tell winter to go away than with a walk along the southern coast of Sydney Harbour… and eating gelato along the way!** **We will start at Circular Quay, Wharf 2.** **The ferry to Rose Bay leaves at 9.45am and arrives at 9.58am.** **From Rose Bay, we have a slight climb up to Point Piper.** **Then we will head to Double Bay, through Rushcutters Bay, then to Elizabeth Bay & Potts Point at the top of the hill.** **We will then continue to Woolloomooloo Wharf, we will walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens to the Sydney Opera House.** **This is our first gelato stop – Mesina’s Gelateria (there are others as well).** **From here we will walk to Barangaroo where we will make our second gelato stop (and my favourite) at Rivereno Gelateria.** **Then to the Sydney Fish Market, where you guessed it, the third gelato stop – Cow and the Moon Gelateria.** **From here we will head to Blackwater Bay Park, and then onto Bicentennial Park and Federal Park.** **We will visit Rozelle Parklands and make our way through some smaller parks in Annadale to Norton Street in Leichhardt at Bar Italia, for the last opportunity for another gelato.** **From here we can catch a bus or the light rail back to the city.** **We will aim to finish at around 3pm – all “gelatoed out”.** **There are plenty of exit points so it’s perfect for anyone who is not sure how far they will be able to walk.** **This walk consists of well-worn tracks and footpaths.
