Milkyway in Premium Location - One Solo Photo

Please note that **this event is not open for photographers** (no option to bring Camera/GoPro or tripod). I will be taking photos of people with the Milkyway. Cameras and tripods aren’t allowed due to past accidents that led to damaged cameras/lenses and injuries in the dark. We have done over 200 Milkyway events. Please read the group rules before signing up. Please follow these two steps to confirm your spot: \*\* Trybooking tickets will be posted once this event is confirmed based on the weather forecast. The event is usually only confirmed a day in advance \*\* We will scan Trybooking tickets at the meeting point. Please note that Trybooking tickets will only be refunded if the event is moved or cancelled. Trybooking Tickets are non-refundable. There is no option to also transfer the ticket to a new date. Payments are managed through Trybooking and not Meetup. You will see an **"Unpaid" status on your RSVP**. Driving to the destination is not an option for any of our stargazing events. The Milky Way Galaxy is one of the most interesting naked eye sights in the night sky. We live under light-polluted skies, and to see a glimpse of the Milkyway, we need to travel outside the city. Wetlands Walk – Connection, Birdlife & Nature at Laverton Estuary

Join me for a relaxed, family friendly walk through the wetlands, estuary, and coastal landscapes of Melbourne’s west. Whether you come for the birdlife, fresh air, meaningful conversation, or simply to slow down and connect — you are warmly welcome. Starting at Apex Park in Altona, we’ll explore the Laverton Creek Spit Conservation Zone, salt marsh, and boardwalks, finishing at the Hundred Steps of Federation lookout with wide views toward the You Yangs. At the lookout, we’ll pause to rest, chat, and enjoy the views. Please bring drinks and snacks, as there are no places to purchase food along the way. **Agenda** * 2:00pm – Meet at Apex Park, Altona (map and photo of meeting spot below) * 2:10pm – Depart * 3:15pm – Hundred Steps lookout break * 5:00pm – Return to starting point The walk is approximately 8km and mostly flat, with the Hundred Steps lookout accessible via either stairs or hill. All the Birds, Singing won the Miles Franklin over novels by Tim Winton and Alexis Wright and the Booker winner that year, The Narrow Road to the Deep North. Tough competition! A contemporary reviewer says the novel "should enhance her reputation as one of our most gifted novelists". Set on an unnamed English Island with flashbacks to a traumatic rural WA upbringing, reviewers praised the interlocking stories, one going forward and the other back into childhood. Full of foreboding and well-paced this book is a great story about a strong woman, well told. Since starting this book club a few years ago we have formed a nice core membership. If you haven't come yet, please look out for the books on the table, pull up a chair, order a wine and join us. We like to hear what everyone has to say and enjoy the conversation, we're not cliquey at all! Oh, and to defray the Meetup monthly bill I will accept gold coin contributions or wine if you want to pay for multiple in one hit. I hope to see everyone again at this one with some new faces.
