Let’s ride our Bromptons from Lower Manhattan to Riverside Park for a picnic by the Hudson River and back! This is a 10-mile social ride at a slow pace, **for Brompton bicycles only.** **DETAILS** We’ll meet at the base of the Christopher Street Pier on the Hudson Greenway. We’ll depart punctually at 11:30am sharp after 30 minutes of socializing. We’ll roll at 11:30am sharp. At the meeting point, there are restrooms for us to use. If needed, restrooms will also be available at 43rd St and 69th St right by the Hudson Greenway. The entire route is on a paved, comfortable bike path, with very little traffic to cross and no major obstacles to expect. We will stop at Zabar's (Broadway/80 St) to get the food for our picnic - so you don't need to bring anything in advance. At Riverside Park, we will spread out on the grass, overlooking the Hudson River and have a picnic. After the picnic, we will ride back on the Hudson Greenway, just as we came, with the option for riders to either drop out when they are close to home or follow us across the Brooklyn Bridge into DUMBO, Brooklyn. We will have a small After Party on our rooftop terrace to round off the glorious day. **RIDE LEVEL:** Chill / Relaxed Pace: 16 kmh / 10 mph Distance: 10-13 miles (depending on your choice to ride back) There will be at least one short stop along the way. Everyone is welcome, no one will be left behind. **WHAT TO BRING** * Sunglasses * Please ensure your tires are inflated and your bike is in good working order * Spare inner tube in case of flats - everyone should bring this * Blanket and/or towel to sit on . **PICNIC** Please bring your own beverage, and snacks to share. Alternatively, you can buy food at Zabar's. We are planning to have a nice. leisurely picnic with a bounty of appetizers/tapas, e.g. bread, cheese, salads, wine etc. **PLEASE MAINTAIN YOUR RSVP!** If you can’t attend, please update your RSVP so someone from the waiting list can have your spot. Urban Athletics: Bike the NYC Bridges by Night

Urban Athletics: Bike the NYC Bridges by Night

Fri, Jul 10, 11:30 PM
From I wanted to do that...Just not alone!!
4.8

The other night I was on my bike riding around town and was struck by how dramatically the vibe of the city changes once the sun sets. People get out on their cycles and enjoy this town during the day but most of us put them away when the evening comes. That's like ordering a slice of pizza, throwing away the cheese and only eating the crust -- you're only getting half of what makes the experience great. **The plan...** We are going to take a nighttime tour of the East River bridges, we'll wheel through three boroughs and cross over five spans -- the Queensboro, Pulaski, Williamsburg, Manhattan, and Brooklyn bridges. This ride will highlight the stunning vistas only viewable from our water crossings and take in different views of the sparkling nighttime Manhattan skyline. If there was ever a time to go through the hassle of carrying your camera with you, this will be it. **The important stuff...** • This is going to be a casually-paced ride of about 17 miles. Most of the ride will take place in bike lanes but there will be parts with some automobile congestion. You must be comfortable riding in a group and in traffic. Lights and reflectors for your bike are also REQUIRED by law. **Helmets are mandatory otherwise you will not be allowed to ride with the group.** • This is a night ride so dress to be seen by motorists and pedestrians -- bright or reflective clothing is a must. • Make sure your bike is in good working order before the meetup and bring a lock in case we need to leave our cycles. Also bring a patch repair kit, air pump, and spare inner tube. • Rain cancels the meetup. Here is the map of the ride: TO COME

Wheels & Beer - 3 Beers for 3 Gears

Wheels & Beer - 3 Beers for 3 Gears

Fri, Jul 3, 8:30 PM
From The Last Minute Cycling Club
5.0

"3 Beers for 3 Gears" is a chill, roughly 14-mile hangout ride rolling from Domino Park (I will ride from Grand Army Plaza) to LIC's Hunters Point Park, the Navy Yard, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and down to Red Hook. It's part of the "Wheels & Beers" series, which means the vibe is more friends-on-bikes than training ride: we cruise, chat, stop to enjoy the views, and grab a couple of drinks (not necessarily beers) along the way. The ride will end officially at Strong Rope Brewery in Red Hook. Bring lights, a helmet, water, and a lock, plus your best attitude and a willingness to ride mostly for the company rather than the miles! This is an informal ride; each rider is solely responsible for their own safety, equipment, and compliance with traffic laws. I’m not providing supervision or instructions—I’m just sharing the time and the route. By attending, you acknowledge the inherent risks of urban cycling and agree that you alone are responsible for your riding decisions and any consequences. The ride will be canceled in case of rain. \- Drink responsibly; Ride respectfully \- https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55933396
