From crisis to conservation: Empowering action for biodiversity

From crisis to conservation: Empowering action for biodiversity

Fri, Jul 10, 2:00 AM
From California Native Plant Society Yerba Buena (SF) Group
4.8

We are living in extraordinary times that can challenge our ability to feel hopeful about the future. To meet this moment, California Native Plant Society has launched two ambitious multi-year biodiversity campaigns: a conservation campaign focused on saving native plants in their natural habitats, and an urban biodiversity campaign that aims to transform the built environment with native plants. In this talk, we’ll discuss the virtuous cycle of hope and action, and where the native plant movement can have the greatest impacts, now and for future generations. Dr. Jun Bando is the executive director of the California Native Plant Society, a nonprofit conservation organization with more than 13,000 members, 35 volunteer-led chapters, and a statewide staff based in Sacramento. She earned her Ph.D. in ecology from UC Davis and her professional background includes work in public policy, higher education, foreign affairs, and national security.

Glow in the Dark Pickleball & Padel Party ✨️

Glow in the Dark Pickleball & Padel Party ✨️

Sun, Jun 28, 12:00 AM
From Bay Area Millennials and Gen Z Meetup Group
4.7

With Pickleball growing more popular than ever, there's a good chance you've already played before. But have you played in the dark with glowing neon lights? Mix that with some food, alcohol and a live DJ and you'll have one night to remember. But what is Padel? Like pickleball, padel is a racquet sport but the key difference is that it's played in an enclosed glass court and players are made to bounce the ball off the walls in a tennis-meets-squash type of way. **Admission**: $59 Your ticket buys you access to not just padel & pickleball courts, but also to a game zone with ping-pong, foosball, corn hole, beer pong, as well as access to an open bar. **Dresscode**: NEON (mandatory) **5:00 PM**: Early arrivals. Play Pickleball & Padel, and start warming up with some drinks. **7:00 PM**: Party kicks off with the DJ, OPEN BAR, and food for purchase. **8:00 PM**: Glow in the Dark courts light up the night.
