Harnessing AI in Capital Markets Engineering

**Correctness and precision in AI-augmented engineering featuring Jonny Press (CTO, Data Intellect) and Tom Dellmann (Director of Engineering, Chronicle).** Doors at 6pm for a 6:30 start, two talks with time for questions, then food, drinks and networking. **Jonny Press, Data Intellect** Data Intellect is a consultancy built around KDB+ and Q, the high-performance database and language behind real-time analytics. Jonny is its CTO and has worked in the language his whole career, coming up through First Derivative and KX. He'll make the case for Q in the age of AI. Coding models tend to churn out pages of code, but Q's terse primitives do more with less: less to read, review and explain to a regulator. Expect a live demo of analytics that are trivial in Q and awkward in SQL. **Tom Dellmann, Chronicle Software** Chronicle makes low-latency software for capital markets: messaging, FIX engines and the trading systems built on them. Tom is Director of Engineering and has stayed hands-on, leveraging AI to stay in contact with the code. He'll resurrect Maude, an academic model checker he last grappled with at university, now made approachable with Claude. He'll live-demo using it to find real issues, including in Chronicle's own open source projects.

Past to Peace: The Forgotten Village, Cliffs of Calm & PeaceHaven Coastal Escape

**Event description** Join us for a scenic and adventurous hike starting at Sothease station, winding through the peaceful South Downs, and uncovering the hidden hamlet of Telscombe, tucked away from time and crowds. We’ll continue on to Peace Haven cliffs, and onto Peace Haven meridean line, then striking coastline toward Newhaven, where cliffs, sea views and a super long pier reward the journey before the pub. Let's Kayak The Thames! From Battersea to Greenwich

An opportunity of a lifetime and a challenge to Kayak from Battersea all the way to Greenwich, passing the key landmarks of London on the River Thames. This will be a unique event for the meetup so long as we get at least 6 people interested and deposits paid . I have been told that whatever your level of kayaking is - even beginner, but someone who likes a challenge and is confident they can do ### **Kayak Bus is a one-way trip from West London to Greenwich.** This is a 100% sight-seeing trip, passing many of London's most iconic landmarks: Cutty Sark, Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Bankside and the Globe, St Pauls, South Bank, London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Lambeth Palace, MI6 and many others, all from the seat of a kayak. See London as it is meant to be from the river. The journey time is a good three hours with the tidal flow making the **trip suitable for all abilities** including complete beginners. North London’s Green Corridor: Highgate, Hampstead and Ally Pally fireworks

Join us for an interesting, varied walk through North London’s historic leafy trails, culminating near Alexandra Palace, where we can stay for a glimpse of one of London’s finest November firework displays. Starting in Finsbury Park, we’ll pick up London’s longest linear nature reserve, following a former railway line and passing a folklore-inspired sculpture that has become its unofficial guardian. We’ll climb through Highgate, with its attractive village streets and famous cemetery, before reaching Parliament Hill for views across London to St Paul’s, the Shard and Westminster. We’ll cross the ponds, meadows and woodland of Hampstead Heath to Kenwood House, the elegant neoclassical villa that is home to the Iveagh Bequest and paintings by Rembrandt and Vermeer. We’ll finish by passing through Highgate Wood, a 70-acre section of the ancient Hornsey Wood, before heading towards Alexandra Palace for a well-earned drink or two and the option to stick around for the fireworks later. **NB** The event does not include entry into the official firework venue. 🏹 Discover the Art of Historic Mamluk & Ottoman Archery Step back in time and learn the traditional archery techniques practiced by the warriors of the Mamluk and Ottoman eras. Unlike modern Western archery, this style uses the thumb draw, a unique and highly effective shooting method that offers a completely different experience.
