Bring a Song: A Music Listening Night

Bring a Song: A Music Listening Night

Fri, Jul 17, 5:00 PM
From The Discussion Experiment - Berlin
4.6

**Please note that we invite people through different channels, so there are more attendees than you can see here :)** In The Discussion Experiment we usually meet to talk about relevant political, philosophical and personal topics, but sometimes we just want to have fun, therefore: What can we discover when we don’t just listen to music while doing something else, but as a group and in silence? What will catch our attention and how does the group setting change the experience? At this event, we’ll take some time to listen to different songs, let them have an effect on us, and share whatever we care to put out there. After each piece, we’ll take about five minutes to share our impressions. You can spontaneously suggest songs to listen to but don’t stress about choosing the „right“ song! From the most sophisticated masterpiece of music history to Aqua’s Barbie Girl, you can suggest whatever you are curious about that night. Or, in fact, you can just listen and not contribute actively, if that’s what you prefer. Join us, it will be fun. Anyone and everyone is welcome! **This is a paid event. Entry costs 5€ plus a fee that meetup charges.** It is free however for regular guests (if you have been to 2 or more events) and you are also very welcome to join for free, if you currently have to be careful with money. DM us in that case. **FAQ** ***What can I expect from the event?*** Each event is a an experiment so it’s difficult to predict exactly how it will play out. This time it is all about listening to music together in silence and then share impressions. If we have more people than time for songs, we’ll draw lots to decide who gets to suggest one. We want this to be a relaxed event. It’s not about picking out particularly unique or sophisticated songs to impress others. Any song you’re curious to hear the group’s thoughts on is good enough. ***Will the audio quality be amazing?*** No 🙂 It will be fine. We will stream the music and use ordinary speakers, so if you are a super duper hifi kind of person you might be disappointed. ***Do I have to speak? Do I have to suggest a song?*** No. It’s perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak. However, there might be a name round in the beginning. ***Who is this event for?*** This event is for anyone who is curious about it. We aim to create spaces where people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds feel welcome. You don’t need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to take part. ***What’s the duration of the event?*** Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel welcome to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation. ***Is the venue wheelchair accessible?*** The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms! ***What is "The Discussion Experiment"*** The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations. Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively. This event however is less about discussing and more about exploring music together. This event is co-organized by Kirstin Müller. Read more about the whole project [on our website](http://%5Bhttps://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/%5D(https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/) "\[https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/\](https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/)"). The project is run by Igor Don and Maria Scholze.

Quality Engineering meetup #13

Quality Engineering meetup #13

Thu, Jul 16, 4:00 PM
From Quality Engineering Berlin
4.7

**PLEASE NOTE THE ADDRESS CHANGE! We're now at DEUTSCHE BANK BERLIN!** *In collaboration with* *Deutsche Bank*, *[Qase](https://qase.io) is presenting the **thirteenth** Meetup on Quality Engineering in Berlin.* *We’re bringing you three deep-dive talks: all designed to challenge the way you think about quality, testing, and collaboration.* *As always, expect great conversations, snacks, and drinks. See you there!* **AGENDA** **1\. Olga Bokova @ Deutsche Bank:** ***Testing the Nanoseconds: A Decade of High-Frequency Trading QA Evolution*** High-frequency trading systems operate at the edge of technology, where latency is measured in nanoseconds and every delay can translate directly into financial impact. In this environment, traditional QA approaches quickly break down, e.g. functional correctness alone is no longer enough. In this talk, Olga will share a real-world journey of how QA evolved over the past decade within high-performance trading systems. We’ll explore the challenges of testing ultra-low latency platforms, handling massive market data streams, and ensuring deterministic behaviour in highly distributed environments. Olga will walk us through how fragmented testing approaches led to inefficiency, duplication, and scalability issues, and how they transitioned toward a unified, domain-level testing framework built around simulation and controlled environments. You’ll learn how treating testing infrastructure as an engineering product helped us reduce complexity, increase reliability, and enable performance testing at realistic market scale. Along the way, Olga will share practical lessons, trade-offs, and what they chose to abandon (not just what we built). **2\. Neha\-B Yadav @ Deutsche Bank: *Secure AI, Smarter Testing: How QA Teams Can Shift Left Efficiently*** Now as ever, staying effective and efficient requires more than just strong testing fundamentals, but also intelligent orchestration of tools, data, and automation. Neha will focus in this talk on three key dimensions: how to stay effective with the help of AI-driven test workflows, how to remain relevant with modern engineering practices and enterprise tooling, and how to continuously upskill in an ecosystem of automation, AI agents, and integrated test platforms. Neha will share her approach with shifting testing left, proactive defect prevention, early test design, and proper continuous integration. The session will highlight techniques such as test-driven development, early collaboration between QA and engineering, and integrating validation into CI/CD pipelines to reduce downstream risks. **3\. Vitaly Sharovatov @ Qase: Leading Cost\-Cutting Initiatives by Improving Quality** More and more companies are cutting costs and doing layoffs, and QA is often among the first to be cut. Yet it is precisely QA folks who can help cut costs while improving quality. In this talk, Vitaly suggests ways we all can lead cost cutting discussions to make things right and either reduce or prevent layoffs. Partner with Customer Support to identify which escaped defects cost the most in ticket handling and escalations. Partner with Sales to identify which bugs put renewals and expansions at risk. Add Finance for SLA credits and refunds, and Engineering for incident response and hotfix effort. Add it all up, and you get external failure costs. After that, quantify internal failure costs like rework, retesting, queues, and waste. We will turn these numbers into a cost cutting proposal that managers understand: reduce the priciest external failure costs first, then reduce internal failure costs, by improving the way we build quality in. You will leave with a simple template for collecting the numbers with other departments, doing the calculations, and proposing specific process changes. Let's be the people who cut failure costs, not the people who get cut!
