Kurnell-Cape Solander-Cronulla Whale Walk. Be active healthy & happy!😎🐋

**Kamay Botany Bay National Park to Cronulla. 16 kilometres.** 🐋**9:00am Meeting place:** **[Bus stop](https://tinyurl.com/4ymnv6pu)** across the road from Cronulla Station. It'll be the peak time to see humpback whales on their northern migration to make babies in the tropics!🐳 With luck it'll be blubber to blubber traffic on the humpback highway.🙂 I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Gweagal people of the Dharawal Nation & pay respects to their people, culture & Elders past, present & emerging. 🐋**About:** Traditional land for more than 20,000 years of the Gweagal people. Landing place of Capt. James Cook and called the birthplace of modern Australia. In 2020 to commemorate the 250th anniversary, there are 3 magnificent large bronze sculpture installations by 3 aboriginal women artists. 🐋**Route:** We start from **[Kamay Botany Bay National Park](https://tinyurl.com/37w2fjsx)**[.](https://tinyurl.com/37w2fjsx) After appreciating the monuments/sculptures we cut through the scrub to the $2.5 million whale watching platform at Cape Solander. From there it's whale viewing vantage points pretty much all around the headland as we go south. After saying goodbye to our cetacean (whale) friends we head slightly inland through Boat Harbour Aquatic Reserve and the start of Cronulla Beach. This is a 4.5km stretch & we'll go onto the beach as it has hard sand all the way to Wanda Beach. From there it's the Esplanade walkway all the way to Cronulla. 🐋**Difficulty:** Easy. The track is flat with dirt tracks & boardwalks. There is some rock hopping but nothing dangerous. 🐋**Transport from the city:** ***Depart-*** 7.40am Central Station, Platform 27 (Metro) ***change*** Sydenham Station, Platform 1 ***Arrive-*** 8.44am [Cronulla St opp Cronulla Station, Cronulla](https://tinyurl.com/2xsvvkpw). You have 16 mins to get a coffee before we catch the Kurnell bus. 🐋**Driving:** Try parking near [Cronulla Station](https://tinyurl.com/vuhn2z3t). No point driving to the start, Kurnell, as the buses from the end of the walk back to Kurnell, are infrequent. 🐋**What to bring:** Good walking shoes or trainers. A warm layer for when we stop. A full water bottle. No refills till Wanda Beach. Snacks. Binoculars if you have them. Plankton. Only joking.🙂 🐋**Gratuity:** There will be a $10 cash gratuity for this walk or Pay ID alternatively. By ***RSVP*** to this meetup you agree to and are bound by the terms and conditions of Aussie Explorers which can be found [here](https://www.meetup.com/Aussie-Explorers/).
