WE HIKE... to the YACHT PARTY 2026! REGISTER INTEREST!
Sun, Sep 6, 12:00 AM**Howdy hikers. A few ladies gave me a nudge last weekend. At last nite’s drinks event? A few more. So? It’s time to Hike… to the Yacht Party 2026. Please note - this event is not next Friday - just giving you all a week to register your interest to attend so I can yacht shop! We Hike to the Yacht Party 2026 will be on 17th October 2026!!!** Click "Attend" if you’re keen - not "Hmmm maybe" but rather "Fahk yes. I'm in there!" I’ll need to start hunting for the right yacht size. Last year we did 46 hikers, and the day went really well like this: a) We hiked. Optional. b) We had an hour to change clothes. Grab some BYO. And lube up at bar in the CBD. c) Yacht departure by Sydney Opera House. 3hrs. d) Yacht drop off at King St Wharf. e) Finished with our own private section at MJ’s local bar (we’d switch it up this year - we had drinks at Helm Bar last nite, and their private area was really nice, and they do duelling pianos on Saturday nites - fun, fun, fun). October is a great time, as we change the clocks then, and the prices are still lower season before they go way up in November. Who’s keen? Hit “Attend” and **[JOIN THE WHATSAPP GROUP HERE](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ig0MHnm7TLFFC1rupyF28N)**. Last year it was $100 per head. This year it will prob be a similar amount and a few bucks more. Should we partner with another group? We could make it a biggie and mix in some new folks – message me if you have a group in mind, as I don’t do anything in any other groups. Thanks! MJ

A HIKE, SUNSET & ABBA. (Then The Retro?)
Sat, Sep 12, 4:30 AMSometimes I write these events up and think "Wow. That's gonna be a great hike and wine. A terrific event." Other times I think *"Gulp. Here comes a lovely hike, then some chaos."* But... a lovely hike finishing with sunset on Sydney Harbour Bridge with perfect Sydney Opera House views with an ABBA cover band sounds like grand fun (and chaos) to me! **THE HIKE.** Taronga Zoo to the CBD is a not-too-often hiked journey, and it's lovely... hidden beaches. It will be so, so hard not to stop at Mosman Rowers (or shall we for a quick one?) But onward to beautiful homes, neighbourhoods. And of course the journey over Sydney Harbour Bridge and a Sydney Opera House sunset - delightful. It's 10kms, and it's pretty easy. Some bush. Some beach. And some perfect views. **ABBA.** ABBASBACK is on at **Harbour View Hotel**. I can only imagine how cheesey, how bad, and how fun this could be. I just left Harbour View Hotel for a chat with the manager - we're good for 35 hikers with an email confirmation, but she also said "The door is open. Make sure you're early. We'll let you all in, but if it's packed... well it's packed." So, I think a 6pm hike finish / pub arrival is a good time. No cover charge for the show. ABBA starts at 730pm. I then took a walk to **The Retro**... a classic Sydney nightclub at The Bristol that is back from the dead and meant to be FUUUNNNNNNN. They open at 9pm. Manager said we are all welcome. No cover charge for the nightclub. See you soon for a great event. MJ ***AN AD FROM THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT.*** ***September!!! 2026 WHALE TRAIL: Narrabeen to "Sunday Sippers" at Bilgola Beach!!!
Sun, Sep 27, 1:30 AMWe looooove our Sydney trails that treat us to **secret beaches**. We love finishing our events at **secret bars you’d never find**! What about an event… a **stunning hike that finishes at a** **secret beach bar** **with a band** that starts at 4pm bringing us right into a glorious sunset? On August 30, we did this hike but from the other way… Palm Beach down to Bilgola, and let me say this… **SUNDAY SIPPERS AT BILGOLA SLSC IS ONE OF THE COOLEST LITTLE BARS IN ALL OF SYDNEY!!!** It’s RIGHT on the beach. It’s only open once a month. And the bartender said “Late September we’ll have a full band on – it will be a great Northern Beaches scene.” **This hike is beautiful. This bar is unforgettable (burger, beer pic is from Bilgola SLSC). Don’t miss this HIKE!** **THE HIKE. Narrabeen Beach to Bilgola Beach - 13.5kms.** We'll meet at the bus stop in North Narrabeen ([CLICK HERE for exact point where 199 bus drops)](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Northern+Beaches+Community+College,+Pittwater+Rd/@-33.7022113,151.2985563,18.82z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x6b0d550541a46f25:0x5017d681632c2f0!2sNarrabeen+NSW+2101!3b1!8m2!3d-33.7222735!4d151.2984024!16zL20vMDM4eDgz!3m5!1s0x6b0d54e1517e958b:0x284ff3157c081ca9!8m2!3d-33.702148!4d151.298203!16s%2Fg%2F11gzdz06t?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDgyNi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) \- we'll discuss it in the [whatsapp chat too](https://chat.whatsapp.com/FXMgLB7M7Rp7jH6ol6nf8g)). The 199 bus stop is there, then we'll cross the road and check out the rockpool then head into **Narrabeen Headland** which gives the most spectacular views south. Onward we go to **Turimetta Beach** (10/10 breathtaking) and **Lookout**… to the **Turimetta Headland Reserve, Warriewood Lookout & Blowhole**, **Warriewood Beach (again gorgeous), then to Mona Vale Beach (voted 6th best in the world, Conde Naste)**… North of that? **Basin Beach. Bungan Beach**.... these two are truly beautiful. We'll climb out of Bungan then head to **Newport Beach...** around the headland is **Bilgola Beach**, and we'll descend down some lovely stairs right onto the sand where **Bilgola SLSC** lies. **13.5kms in total**. Beach walk. Inclines. And all the rest. Fitness required for this one. The **B1 bus / 199 bus are our friends all day to start, get home, and even provide some outs if you want to stop hiking and meet us at the pub.** If you parked your car at the start (there is free parking but DIY research) it's super easy to bus back south. Post-pub the 199 bus is literally up the stairs from Bilgola and runs every 10minutes. We'll arrive at the pub about 320pm (330pm opens)... I get it. It's Sunday. If you want to leave? That's okay. One drink. Stay longer? All options are open... See you for one of my favourite Sydney hikes and definitely my favourite (new) secret bar!
