From WE HIKE. WE WALK... to the BAR. Social Sessions in Sydney

**12 Buffalo Wings and a Pint of beer for $15? Yup. Read on...** VIVID is back, and the drone show should be cool! *(Well, let's be honest, the drone show should be "fixed" as our first VIVID walk was a fizzer and some were falling into the water as the show had technical difficulties!)* But it's great to do VIVID on a Monday - one of the least crowded days of the week... and we'll finish at my local pub as Monday's offer half-priced wings, ribs, and drinks (optional, as you may want to get home). **THE HIKE.** Let's meet at Paragon Hotel down at Circular Quay. Let's chat in whatsapp on the day so you can find me from **545pm**. We'll see the lights go on at 6pm on the dot and *see Customs House, the MCA, Syd Opera House, etc... all the way to Barangaroo, King St Wharf, and the drone show starts at 730pm finishing at 740pm. It will be crowded and hard to keep the group together, so make your own way to Sporting Globe by 4Pines. I'll already be at the table.* **Sporting Globe is my local pub, so I'll grab a table... 50% off wings, ribs, selected pints, and house wine. What a deal!!! 24 wings should be like $22, so if everybody brings $11 cash, I'll order a bunch of wings / flavours at 745pm - they'll be on the table as you arrive at the pub - just make sure everybody gets their 12 - it's def enough (if you want wings, that is). Last, I have a furtherr 20% off VIP Card - get it from me before you order at the bar - that's how I got 12 wings and a Pint for $15!!!** So we get to the drone show on time, I'll move at about 3.5kms per hour - it's up to you to keep up. I'll post my location in live Google Maps, and all hikers must join our **[WHATSAPP GROUP HERE](https://chat.whatsapp.com/C2nbnKJ5WJo5aenEREmOFB)** (please note, I'll keep this whatsapp for the week after hike(s), so *exit it / silence it* is my advice once you complete your hike - or use it to see other hikers' cool pics). 4kms per hour is pretty slow so we can take pics, chat, laugh, and feel free to bring a roadie drrink if you fancy... Again, it's up to you to keep the pace and not get lost. ***AN AD FROM THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT.*** ***JUNE!!! Here's what's on in We Hike... to the Bar:*** *Monday, 1 June - [VIVID WALK, DRONE SHOW, 50% OFF WINGS, DRINKS!](https://www.meetup.com/hikewalktothebar/events/314952719/)* *Saturday, 6 June – [Macmasters Beach to Killcare, Hardy’s Hideaway. Whales Migration along Kamay Botany National Park To Cronulla Beach!

Whales Migration along Kamay Botany National Park To Cronulla Beach!

Fri, Jun 26, 11:50 PM
From Aussie Explorers

**We will definitely see whales as we walk along the coast!** **We meet at the bus stop opposite Cronulla Train Station and catch “Transdev” Bus 987 to Kurnell at 9.50am (the bus leaves at 10am).** **When the bus drops us off, we are at the edge of Kamay Botany National Park and follow the Monument Track past Sutherland Point (named after a sailor on the Endervour) to Captain Cook’s landing place on 28 April in 1770. This is considered the birthplace of modern Australia.** **In 2020, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook’s landing, 3 magnificent large bronze sculptures by 3 aboriginal women artists were added to the coastline.** **We then follow the Muru Trail to the whale watching platform at Cape Solander.** **From here, we follow the Cape Bailey Track to the Boat Harbour Aquatic Reserve with plenty of lookouts from which to spot whales, and then start the 4.5km beach walk that takes us all the way to Wanda Beach (at low tide so the sand is compacted and easier to walk on) and we jump onto the Esplanade walkway all the way to Cronulla.** **We're doing on a low tide day to make it easier to walk on the sand!** **Following lunch at Cronulla we complete the 5km loop around Bass Point, Flinders Point and Gunnamatta Bay which leads returns us to Cronulla and the train station.** **We will aim to finish by 4pm at Cronulla Beach, from which we walk to the nearby train station and can catch a train back to Sydney.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISTANCE: 20 kms.** **GRADE: Moderate because of the distance. It’s mostly flat (although walking on sand can be a little hard for some).** **NOTE: No exit points until we get to Wanda Beach. Please let the Host know if you leave the walk.** **IMPORTANT INFORMATION:** · **Be Prepared: Wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring at least 2L of water (no refills after Kurnell until Wanda Beach). I recommend hydralyte tablets, snacks and sun protection.** · **Follow Instructions: Please follow the instructions of the Host at all times and keep the Host within sight.** **RSVP Responsibly and Be Ontime at the Designated Meeting Point: Update your RSVP if you can’t make it.** **GRATUITY: $10 applies to this event which can be paid in cash on the day or PayID is 0439 344987 Cristian Sylvestre.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISCLAIMER: Your health and safety is our priority and we take care to minimize risk and avoid accidents and injuries.** **However, Organizers and Hosts are not responsible for your health and safety and do not accept any liability for accidents and injuries that may occur during Meetup activities and events. **We will meet at the ferry wharf exit in Bundeena at 9.00am when the ferry arrives (it leaves Cronulla at 8.30am). If you are catching the ferry, please note they do not accept Opal cards. It is strictly eftpos or cash.** **From here we will walk through the town of Bundeena to the start of the Coastal Walk Trail in the Royal National Park, where there are toilets (last ones before Wattamolla).** **Then we will follow the trail southerly to Wattamolla where we will see some lovely coastal scenery including flora, fauna, cliffs, ledges and lookouts.** **We will stop at various lookouts to spot migrating humpback whales! With any luck we will see a few...** **The track has a few ups/downs and crosses Marley Beach and Little Marley Beach.** **Once we reach Wattamolla, we will have lunch and return the same way we got there.** **There are no water refill points anywhere on this walk. The tap water at Wattamolla is not fit for drinking but sometimes, the National Park rangers will provide drinkable water. I will carry water purification tables for those that need a refill.** **We will aim to return to Bundeena for the 4pm boat to Cronulla, from where we can catch a train back to Central.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISTANCE: About 22 kms.** **GRADE: Medium.** **NOTE: No get out points.** **IMPORTANT INFORMATION:** · **Be Prepared: Wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring a minimum of 2 LITRES of water (no refill points available) and dress for the weather.** · **Follow Instructions: Please follow the instructions of the Host at all times and keep the Host within sight.** · **Being a National Park, we leave nothing behind (even if its organic!) and take nothing with us when we leave.** · **RSVP Responsibly and Be Ontime at the Designated Meeting Point: Update your RSVP if you can’t make it.** **GRATUITY: $10 applies to this event which can be paid in cash on the day or PayID is 0439 344987 Cristian Sylvestre.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISCLAIMER: Your health and safety is our priority and we take care to minimize risk and avoid accidents and injuries.** **However, Organizers and Hosts are not responsible for your health and safety and do not accept any liability for accidents and injuries that may occur during Meetup activities and events.
