11kms Coogee to Malabar Headland Hike!!! Microbrew & Food Truck Finish!

From WE HIKE. WE WALK... to the BAR. Social Sessions in Sydney
4.9

**Beach to Beach to National Park Headland to Microwbrew & Food Truck?!?! Absolutely. Add whales!!!** Of course the Marrickville & Freshwater microwbrews are well known, but there are also a few down in Botany that we've not explored together. Let’s check it out for a cracker of a Sunday session. **THE HIKE. 11kms.** **Coogee Beach…** we all know it. It’s a beauty. We'll meet just by Coogee Pavilion at that huge chair in the grass - it's actually a sculpture called "The Impressionists' Seat"... hiking along beautiful Coogee Beach. South Coogee turns a bit more tranquil with gorgeous cliff views and crazy-beautiful homes. We’ll twist and turn to **Maroubra Rocks and Beach**… looooovely spots. The rockpool at Maroubra is one of the prettiest on the coast. To **Malabar Headland** we goooooooooo! I still haven't done it, and it looks a treat (it's only open the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month). Around to **Malabar Beach** then a 1km neighbourhood walk to the bus, and Beer Fontaine is close (if you have to leave after the hike, that’s understandable – it’s Sunday after all). **Beer Fontaine** is a lovely little spot, and they always have a food truck out front. Who doesn’t love a beer and food truck meal post-hike! A perfect Sunday Session. The 309 bus is close by and drops at Redfern. **[If you join, please come back here and jump into our whatsapp group by clicking on this link. It's a must to come to our events. Thanks!](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Cu4EhCU1od24QGTtqr8cmj)** See you soon! MJ **THE OTHER STUFF** a) **Be on time.** If you’re late? Catch up. Please don't call, message. Just catch up. b) **$10** Cash or PayID. c) **Fitness matters here.** Sure, the pubs sound great, but we are hiking in National Park. Be prepared. d) **Honour your RSVP.** No shows get banned from the group. **I put my credit card down for a reservation – your reservation.** e) Bring mates, dates, etc... f) **[JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP HERE](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Cu4EhCU1od24QGTtqr8cmj)** ***In pressing the “Attend” button for this hike, you acknowledge that:*** a) You are healthy and fit to complete the hike describe; b) You have read and will follow [NSW National Parks Bushwalking Safety Guidelines](https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/safety/bushwalking-safety) for this hike; c) You have no chronic / underlying health issues that deter you from completing this hike; d) You understand your host is just that – your host, not a professional hiker – and that you and you alone are responsible for your hiking health, safety, and wellness; e) You’ve been advised to download the “Emergency Plus App” and f) You’ve been advised to obtain individual [hiking insurance from 1Cover](https://www.1cover.com.au/adventure-travel-insurance/hiking-trekking/?utm_source=google&utm_source_platform=gads&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=13564994076&utm_term=adventure%20travel%20insurance&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=13564994076&gbraid=0AAAAAD_bfRAu6Io5ZkHeiIYCP_evtsQ_z&gclid=CjwKCAjwz5nGBhBBEiwA-W6XRLm8Itjn1am8sdPMxVhBtRmsDOWkolLlVATJcXW5jW-9JgB7hb9kMhoC7M0QAvD_BwE). g) Over 60yrs old, and new to the group? Taronga Balmoral Loop to Frenchy Festival! New Section to Explore!

Taronga Balmoral Loop to Frenchy Festival! New Section to Explore!

Fri, Jul 17, 11:00 PM
From WE HIKE. WE WALK... to the BAR. Social Sessions in Sydney
4.9

There's a new 3kms loop that opened at George's Head last year. It's part of one of my favourite inner-Harbour hikes: **Taronga to Balmoral**. I mean... what city in the world offers a glorious 14.5kms (loop) hike just 10minutes from the busiest city on the continent? Sydney does. So, let's do it and finish at **[The Bastille Festival...](https://bastillefestival.com.au/sydney/)** then pub. **THE HIKE** Tap your Opal card, through the gates, and we'll see you on the ferry. 912am the ferry leaves from CQuay Wharf 4 (check the train schedules / arrive early), and we arrive Taronga Wharf at 924am. Let's let the school holiday groups head into the zoo... then we hike at 930am. **Taronga to Bradley's Head to Taylor's Bay to Chowder Bay... it's glorious, and it's so crazy this hike offers perfect Sydney Opera House views and deserted beaches along the way. We'll climb to George's Head then hike the new trail... returning the opposite direction to Taronga Wharf for a quick ride to Frenchy Festival!** 14.5kms in total. But for a little ascent to George's Head this is a pretty easy hike. **BASTILLE DAY FESTIVAL, CIRCULAR QUAY** There are over 130 stalls at this year's festival... Food. Booze. Perving. What else do you want? Well, we'll have th same contest as last year a) Get a French kiss from a stranger? You'll get $10 cash from me. b) Get an Aussie kiss from somebody you meet at the festival? $30 cash from me. "A" requires a video of the event. "B" requires a group story to be told at a future hike as this event most likely isn't public. It's gonna be crowded, and we won't all be able to stay together so let's say 45minutes at The Festival then we'll meet at the pub. I'll give our pub location in the whatsapp chat. **[Please click on this link to join the whatsapp chat. Repeat... Hit "Attend" for this event then come back here and CLICK HERE. PLEASE JOIN THE WHATSAPP GROUP.](https://chat.whatsapp.com/FqY16uswoujFxdGfU9lYpa)** We've been using whatsapp for quite a while now, and I still get emails: "MJ, how do I join the whatsapp group?" This baffles me. Get in there! Sorry. Got a little heated there. Let's hike. Let's have some fun. Let's hike a great hike! See you soon. MJ **_______________________________________________________** **THE DETAILS.** **WHATSAPP.** You’re not 100% confirmed until you’re in the whatsapp group. Join it 'cause we love it, and we use it! Click on the link (above) – if not, sadly you’ll be removed from the event on MeetUP. **Cancels / No shows.** Treat your RSVP like a restaurant reservation. *No show / cancel on the day?* That restaurant is my hiking group – you won’t be welcomed in the future. Respect and manners matter as I put my credit card down for your reservation. Double booked with another group? Come on… be kind. **Gratuity.** $10 PayID or Cash. **Safety.** Let’s chat, let’s have some laughs… but let’s be safe. **Fitness.** Yup. Fitness matters for all of our hikes – especially if we are going into National Park. **Guests.** Bring mates, dates, co-workers. **Good energy, smiles, and laughs…** Bring ‘em all! You’re joining the most fun hiking group in Sydney. ***In pressing the “Attend” button for this hike, you acknowledge that:*** a) You are healthy and fit to complete the hike describe; b) You have read and will follow [NSW National Parks Bushwalking Safety Guidelines](https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/safety/bushwalking-safety) for this hike; c) You have no chronic / underlying health issues that deter you from completing this hike; d) You understand your host is just that – your host, not a professional hiker – and that you and you alone are responsible for your hiking health, safety, and wellness; e) You’ve been advised to download the “Emergency Plus App” and f) You’ve been advised to obtain individual [hiking insurance from 1Cover](https://www.1cover.com.au/adventure-travel-insurance/hiking-trekking/?utm_source=google&utm_source_platform=gads&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=13564994076&utm_term=adventure%20travel%20insurance&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=13564994076&gbraid=0AAAAAD_bfRAu6Io5ZkHeiIYCP_evtsQ_z&gclid=CjwKCAjwz5nGBhBBEiwA-W6XRLm8Itjn1am8sdPMxVhBtRmsDOWkolLlVATJcXW5jW-9JgB7hb9kMhoC7M0QAvD_BwE). g) Over 60yrs old, and new to the group? I know. I know. I'm late and lazy in planning this week. But sometimes when you wait, you see what the sun / temperatures / Mothe Nature will bring. **18 degrees and sunny on Sunday with a little breeze.** Fahkin' great! Let's get back into the Royal National Park and find some whales! **Wattamolla Beach** and the hike to **Eagle Rock in The Royal National Park** and beyond is... *special*. Look at those pics! Taken with my shitty phone as well... it's unforgettable coast in the 2nd oldest National Park in the world. **THE HIKE.** We start at Wattamolla Beach.. check out the lovely waterfall, and off we go. There's a slight incline, and after that it's RNPark Coastal beauty (and a pretty easy hike)... I'm not going to write more, cause It's 10 / 10 views from every step thereafter. Oh, please join our **[WHATSAPP CHAT HERE AFTER YOU HIT THE ATTEND BUTTON](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Gc2pP8zWRL0Iv1QmPigBqm)**. We communicate changes, delays, etc... on whatsapp. It's a must to come on this event. Here's the deal. We're going to do a 2hrs hike out, and we'll do a 2hrs hike return. Viewing it North v South will be special both ways. Let's call it 10, 12, 15kms? Depends on our pace. For this one, ***we need drivers!*** Drivers, we love you. We need you. We want you. **We meet at Sutherland Coles (free parking in there)**, hop in cars, and off we go... Drivers, you'll get $5 from each rider, and I think it's a $12 entry fee into the park per car - your riders will split that too. Drivers, you're trruly helping us out. Where to afterwards? I'm open. Somewhere calm and relaxed - the perfect end to a Sunday hike in Mother Nature. See ya soon.
