NEW - TOUGH HIKE 21km Challenge - Surrey 2 Peaks 640m ASCENT
Sat, Sep 12, 7:10 AMThis is a shorter version of our popular Surrey 3 Peaks route, ideal for anyone looking for a challenge or training for bigger adventures. Don't be fooled though, at 21km with 640m of ascent, it's still a demanding hike. Your guide designed this route and knows these hills very well. He was born on the North Downs and spent 18 years living in the Surrey Hills woodlands we'll be hiking through. 📏 **Key Info:** • Distance: 13 miles (21km) • Grading: [Challenging](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/HikeGradings.pdf) • Ascent: 640m • Hiking time: 5 to 5.5 hours • Cost: £33 (includes guided hike + return train) • Refunds: Payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you follow our [[Resale Process](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf)] and your place is rebooked, we’ll issue a refund. • Toilet Breaks: On the train and at the lunch stop 📍 **Meeting Point** • Location: Victoria station. Meet between WHSmith (no 34) and Nero Express (no 29) - [MAP](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/StationPhotos/Victoria.jpg) & [photo](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/StationPhotos/VictoriaPhoto.jpg) • Time: Meet 8:10am, leave 8:25am for the 8:41am train • Return: 5:45pm arrival back in London (you’re committed until then) 🌟 **Highlights** • Conquer the **two highest peaks in Surrey** — Leith Hill (294m) & Holmbury Hill (261m) • Hike through the **Surrey Hills AONB**, one of England’s most beautiful landscapes • See the historic **Leith Hill Tower** with its sweeping panoramas • A **superb training hike** for major challenges (Yorkshire Three Peaks, National Three Peaks, Kilimanjaro, Toubkal, Everest Base Camp etc) 🥾 **Hike Description** This is a shorter version of the Surrey 3 Peaks - a formidable challenge often called the Yorkshire cousins as it rivals the Yorkshire Three Peaks in length and ascent. We take on the two highest points in Surrey: **Holmbury Hill and Leith Hill**, following ancient sandy trails and woodland ridges across the **Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty**. Surrey is the most wooded county in England, and this route showcases its very best trails. Starting from **Holmwood**, our route climbs first to **Leith Hill** (294m), the highest point in the South East of England. Here the summit is crowned by the 18th-century gothic **Leith Hill Tower**, offering some of the most far-reaching views of any of our hikes — south to the sea and the South Downs, and north as far as central London landmarks on a clear day. From there, we continue along sandy trails and woodland ridges to **Holmbury Hill** (261m), where the remains of an Iron Age fort overlook the forested Weald below. **Toughness (Please Read):** This is a **very tough, and hilly hike** with over 600m of total ascent. Expect steep sections, some loose ground, and a short section where you need to use your hands it's so steep. The **pace will average 4.0–4.4 km/h** and **the hike will not be slowed down or cut short.** It is **not suitable for beginners**. Only experienced and fit walkers should join. If a participant is unable to keep pace or complete the hike, there are places they can arrange a taxi to leave the hike. If you have any doubts about your ability, we recommend choosing one of our less demanding hikes instead. 🧭 **Guide:** • Leader: [GRAHAM](https://www.outdooraholics.co.uk/MeetTheOutdooraholics.pdf) • Contact (hike day only): 07796 098487 🍽️ **Food:** • Bring a packed lunch and hike snacks, it's a long hike • If time allows - brief pub visit after the hike - (drinks optional) 🎒**What to Bring** • Hiking boots/shoes • Water (2 litres minimum) • Packed lunch • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers) • Hat and gloves if cold • Train tickets are arranged – just meet us at the meeting point ⚠️ **Safety** Your guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider ❓ **Want to Know More?** • [New to Our Trips?](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/new_to_our_day_hikes.pdf) (perfect for first-timers, answers “what to expect”) • [About Us](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/about_us.pdf) (who Outdooraholics are, credibility, history) • [FAQs](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf) (covers common queries) 📲 **Explore More &** **Stay Connected** [Day hikes list](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/hikesbygrade.pdf) 👣 [Calendar - All trips](https://www.meetup.com/outdooraholics/events/calendar/) 📖 [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/outdooraholics/) 📸 [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/Outdooraholics) & [Photos group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/Outdooraholics) 📄 **Terms and Conditions** By signing up or attending you agree to our [Terms and Conditions](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/TermsConditionsOutdooraholicsHikingUK.pdf) © Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2026 E & OE

The White Cliffs of Dover : My favourite hike: Dover to Deal& a SWIM
Sun, Sep 6, 8:30 AMAlright guys, some of you have asked me to do it again as it is my most popular and one of my most beautiful hikes, so here we go! I am taking you again to hike the White cliffs, my top number 1 hike. This hike is always full and there is a reason to this, it is just a fantastic place and one of the most beautiful in England. And as for now, it is supposed to be a sunny day! One of Britain's most popular locations and a well known view from the mainland tourists who travel through the English Channel from France, Belgium or the Netherlands . The chalk cliffs between Dover and Deal are a stunning location with some marvellous Sea views and seaside towns . You will see castles, beaches and will cross path with its inhabitants, the ravens, peregrine falcons or long eared owls if we are lucky. We have also been lucky a couple of times with the visit of harbour porpoises and Common dolphins who often swim along the coast. The landscapes are some of my favourite, and this trail is a feel good hike where you will be able to see the white and grey cliffs of France just across the sea on a clear day once we have reached the cliff top. We will have a proper break on the beach at St Margaret Bay where you could grab a hotdogs, ice cream or a pint of beer in the pub that is the closest to mainland Europe... As always, we will hike, we will laugh and we are likely to end the trip at a restaurant afterwards, so get ready for a lovely day out with stunning views! Probably a delightful Turkish restaurant, one of my favourites with those who wish to enjoy the day to the fullest INFORMATION: DISTANCE: 13.5 miles/20km TIME:5-6 hours TRANSPORT: By train; we will buy an off peak group days return that will allow us to save 35%on the ticket price.
