Sunset Hike: Stream - East Ridge - Canyon Loop ~4.5 miles, ~700 FT, Moderate +

Glen Canyon - Mt Davidson - Laguna Honda - Mt Sutro Hike: 7.3 miles, 1300’ elev

We will be doing a moderately strenuous urban hike in San Francisco starting at the Glen Park BART Station and ending in the Inner Sunset (near 9th Avenue and Irving Street). **This hike is for INTERMEDIATE HIKERS only.** The route will offer a variety of wooded trails and stunning views of the city as we wind through Glen Canyon Park, Mount Davidson, Laguna Honda, Mount Sutro and the lively Inner Sunset. The 7.3 mile trek will involve ascending 1,300 feet via several challenging hills, including Mount Sutro and Mount Davidson (the city’s highest peak). We will end the hike in the Inner Sunset near 9th Avenue, where we can get drinks and/or food. **THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. NO PLUS ONES ARE PERMITTED ON THIS HIKE.** We will **meet at 10:00 am** at the Glen Park BART Station (at Diamond and Bosworth Streets) and **depart at 10:15 am** sharp. We begin the trek by heading north through Glen Canyon Park on the Coyote Crags Trail and Gum Tree Girls Trail. Upon reaching Portola Drive, we head south to ascend Mount Davidson and then turn north to go through Laguna Honda via the Victory Trail. Upon exiting Laguna Honda, we will break for food and the restroom at Midtown Terrace Park. Continuing north, we will enter Mount Sutro via the Clarendon Trail, connecting onto the Mystery Trail and the Historic Trail, followed by an easy descent into the Inner Sunset. Bring plenty of water and lunch/snacks. Restrooms: At Glen Park BART Station (mile 0.0), Midtown Terrace Park (mile 4.6), Grattan Playground (mile 6.5). **Directions:** Take BART or the 44 Bus to the Glen Park BART Station. We will meet just outside the station near the intersection of Diamond and Bosworth Streets. From the Inner Sunset: take the 7 Bus from 9th Avenue and Lincoln Way to the Civic Center BART Station, the 8 Bus from 8th Avenue and Irving Street to the Civic Center BART Station, or the 44 Bus from 9th Avenue and Irving Street back to the Glen Park BART Station. A Friday In The Canyon

Glen Canyon is a unique feature in the city - a peaceful oasis - and we haven't spent much time there recently, even though we often start roams from Glen Park. This Friday roam will take us from the south of the canyon to the north alongside Islais Creek, and back along the side of the hill. If we get lucky we might see a pair of coyotes as we did last time we were up on the slopes. In any case, we will sit on the rocks overlooking the creek valley. We will also have time to visit a couple of the famous dirt roads in the village. There will be a couple of climbs and plenty of dirt on the way round. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation. They are one way I am able to pay my rent in San Francisco.* *Punctuality is always appreciated, for the sake of everybody's time. Please send a message on the app before the start if you are running late, and we will either wait (up to ten minutes) of I will direct you on how to catch up. Once we get underway I have to focus on those who are there, and most likely won't respond.* *Generally half the people who sign up don't actually show up on the day. I do track flakiness and remove people who have a poor attendance record. No Hurry, No Worry Weekly Wednesday Hikes at Redwood Regional Park 4:30 pm

Join us for a weekly easy/moderate no hurry no worry afternoon hike in the redwood regional park. Enter from Redwood Gate https://goo.gl/maps/PrGuttC8dEnxN1KC9 Park and meet at canyon meadow parking lot (the last one). Please make sure no valuables are left or visible in the car to prevent break-in. At 4:30 pm we will start with meet and greet; and each person gets to share 2-3 things that made them happy this week. Please be on time and get to know your new friends during the hike. Depending on the group we will go fast or slow, 4-5 miles. Route to be determined on day of the hike. The hike is scheduled for 2 hours and I will try to get us back by then though occasionally and depending on the group we may be back a little later. Please make sure to bring enough water and clothes and respect for everyone and nature. Doggie friends are not currently part of the hike. Please be considerate when RSVP’ing and update in advance if you cannot make it so others in the waitlist can join if given enough notice! Join Docent Debra Hoitomt for this guided hike. This hike will have some very nice ocean views, weather permitting. It is considered a "moderate" hike. There is sustained climbing on Bolinas Ridge and Cataract. Trails: Matt Davis, Bolinas Ridge Trail, Cataract Creek, Old Mine 6 miles / 1000 feet elevation gain Sign up is required CANCELLATIONS: Rain, red flag days, winds above 30 mph, and unforeseen circumstances will cancel. Pirates Cove Hike

In the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Marin Headlands, a wonderful looping hikes with lagoons, beaches, and views of the city, a rocky cove and the pacific coast. Love the feeling of Tennessee Valley, a relaxing walk along the Lagoon out to the beach. The hike really begins after you go up a steep climb, approx. 600 feet, on the north side of the Valley to the Coastal Fire Road, and then go on to a plateau at the Coastal Trail, with views over the valley and the Pacific Ocean. After moving along the Coastal Trial, you have a small out and back down a rocky climb to Pirates Cove, a cool small inlet beach with large rock outcrops, well worth the effort. You then go along the Coastal trail enjoying views of the Pacific Ocean on your left and reach a plateau overlooking the coast and Muir Beach. **Level:** Intermediate Plus (Long Steep Hills) **Total Distance:** 8.6 miles loop **Hiking Time:** 3.5 - 4 hours **Elevation:** Approx. 600 feet from Tennessee Valley beach to Coastal Trail Bluff, Total Elevation Change: 1268 feet. **Information:** Free Parking lot and along the road, No Dogs even on leash are allowed, Pit bathroom at trailhead and at base of the hill, no water. **Maps:** https://www.nps.gov/goga/planyourvisit/maps.htm http://www.parksconservancy.org/assets/park-improvements/pdfs/marin-headlands-map.pdf **GPS Coordinates for Trailhead** Latitude: N 37°51'37.69" Longitude: W -122°32'8.71" **Meeting Point:** Drive to the end of Tennessee Valley Road to Tennessee Valley Trail Head Parking Lot, 591 Tennessee Valley Road, Mill Valley, parking can fill up quick, park along the road. Road Trip To Crescent City

Let's do a small version of road trip for the first try . This event is mainly for scenic drive along the route to Crescent City with moderate hikes but It is not for big hikes.
