Ciutadella & Barceloneta Secrets

Ciutadella & Barceloneta Secrets

Sun, Aug 30, 8:00 AM
From Barcelona Walkers: Culture & Local Vibe

Looking for a walk that goes beyond the typical tourist loop? This exclusive route is the **only tour in Barcelona** that connects the lush greenery of Ciutadella Park directly to the vibrant maritime history of La Barceloneta and the sea! Together, we’ll dive into how two massive historical events—the **1888 Universal Exposition** and the **1992 Olympic Games**—transformed Barcelona from a local port into one of the world's most dynamic global capitals. ### What We’ll Explore: * **Arc de Triomphe:** Stand beneath the majestic gateway built as the grand entrance to the 1888 World Fair. * **Parc de la Ciutadella & Greenhouses:** Wander through lush gardens, historic tropical glasshouses, and hidden green oases. * **Parliament of Catalonia:** Uncover the military and political history behind this impressive landmark inside the park. * **La Barceloneta Neighborhood:** Step into the narrow grid streets of the traditional fishermen’s quarter and discover its authentic roots. * **Beachfront Finish:** Learn how a heavily industrial coastline was completely reinvented during the '92 Olympics into the world-famous urban beach we enjoy today! ### Event Info & Meeting Details * **When:** Sunday 30th * **Time:** We meet at **09:45 AM** (the tour starts promptly at **10:00 AM**). * **Meeting Point:** Arco de Triunfo / Passeig de Lluís Companys. Look for the host holding an **orange umbrella** ☂️! * **Whisper Audio System:** To ensure everyone hears all explanations clearly and comfortably, we use wireless audio receivers. There is a **€1 cash fee per adult** collected before starting to cover equipment rental costs (goes directly to equipment rental, not to the guide). * **Duration:** Approx. 2 to 2.5 hours. Please wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen! * **Pay-What-You-Feel Concept:** There is no upfront booking fee to join. At the end of the tour, if you enjoyed the experience, you can value it based on your satisfaction (**a contribution of €10 to €15 per person is suggested**). * **RSVP Etiquette:** Space is limited! If your plans change, please cancel or update your RSVP in advance so another member on the waitlist can join. End your Sunday morning right by the Mediterranean shore with great history, fresh air, and good company! ☀️🌊

Walk & Talk at Castelldefels / Gava Mar Beach Line

Walk & Talk at Castelldefels / Gava Mar Beach Line

Sat, Aug 29, 5:00 PM
From Walk and Talk at Castelldefels Beach Line
3.3

**There will be NO HOST for this and the coming events. I simply step up to be a host so this group doesn't disappear.** Meet new people and practice your spoken English during a walk through a continuous Castelldefels / Gava Mar beach line. Nobody is required to talk but can instead enjoy the sea views while walking in a friendly company. Conscious silence is also respected and the group "noise level" will usually self-tune to the adequate atmosphere, depending on the participants mood and energy. The meeting point is https://maps.app.goo.gl/iUYc3nRkPBcNuw3u8 - a sculpture "Give and Receive" at the entrance to the beach and its pedestrian walkway which we will walk through. It's 1 minute from the train station "Platja De Castelldefels" which commutes Barcelona and Sitges. Optionally, if all the attendees agree, we can opt by walking on sand near water (with or without shoes) instead of the walkway. **The event meeting hour can be rescheduled if all the attendees agree.**

HIKE: Coffee Club #27: Barcelona sunrise coastline stroll

HIKE: Coffee Club #27: Barcelona sunrise coastline stroll

Fri, Sep 18, 5:15 AM
From Coffee club: walk, talk, coffee with us throughout Barcelona
5.0

Back by popular demand, we're doing another **Coffee Club Hike.** We will still continue our regular to-go coffee walks around Barcelona (check the rest of our events), but these **hikes** are NEXT LEVEL - longer, at different hours, in the amazing nature that our city has to offer, but with the same awesome people that usually attend Coffee Club. **Join us this time for a coastal morning stroll, at sunrise.** **INVITATION**: Meeting up in person **Friday 18 SEPTEMBER 7:15am - 9:30am @ La Cala Barceloneta.** We may go quite far in 2 hours, get ready. Wake up early. Wear good shoes, bring water. Get ready to sweat a bit. Note: we are leaving promptly at 7:30am (sunrise) for our hike - we will not wait for you, nor will we check our meetup messages at around that time. Ground rules: * Meet up with high-quality, high-vibe people, at a determined point on the map. This time: **just outside La Cala Barceloneta coffee shop. We are leaving right at 7:30am, grab your coffee before that, don't be late. <3** * Have an awesome chat \*OUR CONVERSATION STARTER FOR THIS EVENT IS *"'Healthy' to me means..."* For Coffee Club in 2026 we're moving past examining words and terms and deeper into the human experience. This time we're going to examine exactly what 'healthy' means to each of us. * Experience that happy, buoyant feeling that comes from an engaging, pleasant chat * Continue on with the rest of your day Note: Our route will be determined day-of. It's likely we'll end up in Poblenou or even Badalona depending on our speed. Disclaimers: This meetup is free, but logically you must purchase your own coffee or beverage of your choice directly with the coffee shop mentioned at the end. The primary language of this meetup will be English, the organizer Jenna also speaks Spanish for any questions or needs. For accessibility please note that we will be walking along the beach and uneven terrain - for 2 hours. If you can't do it don't worry, we have much more chill coffee walks on the calendar already in this meetup group, join one of those instead. In the event of rain we will message to establish a new indoors location. If you have a well-behaved dog and would like to walk your dog at the same time you are encouraged to bring them. Note that while this meetup is in English, this is not an English language learning group - this is a way for incredible strangers (both locals and expat locals, we're about 50/50) to get together, chat, and connect about real topics. If you'd like, please provide a reason / intention for attending so that Jenna can make this great for you. Jenna will be actively hosting this space so don't be surprised if she sends you out for a walk with a new stranger, or changes it up a bit to encourage connection. Note that Jenna is intentionally keeping this group free. Be sure to join our **The Club** Whatsapp group after attending one of our Coffee Clubs to be connected with all of our people in Barcelona - in a no-spam, no-sales, genuinely just cool people meeting up - kind of way. If you'd like to support and/or team up with Jenna, buy her a coffee, check out her work at [holajenna.com,](http://holajenna.com,/) or find her at the next coffee club and say the code word: kaleidoscope. Meeting up in person **Friday 18 SEPTEMBER, 7:15am - 9:30am @ starting at La Cala Barceloneta and walking from there** Who is shaping the experience of this group? Jenna is a people person, and the founder of AMARIMA - a hot experience design consultancy crafting deeply resonant and immersive experiences that fuse multi-sensorial design, narrative-based hospitality, and behavioral design. She and her team work with some of the world's top hotel brands, experience-driven companies, and individuals to "turn up the dial on life." With her home in Barcelona and work happening in cities around the world, Jenna hosts Coffee Club Barcelona to bring together high-quality, high-vibe people, and foster real community in her favorite city.
