Sun, Jul 26, 12:00 AM**WHALES & WHALES!** In July/August, thousands of humpback whales migrate north from Antarctica to the warm breeding waters of tropical Australia. **Best for visibility! yes! photos yes!** Manly to North Head high point viewing areas are Sydney's top classified list for whale watching. Mornings when winds are typically lighter, making the ocean smoother, sun directly overhead, reducing ocean glare and making it easier to spot spouts and splashes. **BEAUTIFUL WHALE WATCHING WALK: my identical walk on both Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th pick one!!!** 1\. Don't miss this interesting Whale Walk\, "Spot the Whale" stops at five clifftop lookouts\. 2\. Marine Parade at Cabbage Tree Bay to Shelly Beach Walking Track\, 1st Whale Lookout\. 3\. Spotting Whales here at about 10\.30\, perfect timing\, lets hope it's spot time\, hey\! 4\. Shelly Head Lookout\, next on the list\, I'm feeling good\. Who's first to SPOT one\! 5\. Shelly Headland Upper Lookout\, a longer distance better view\. \(10km out to sea\) 6\. Shelly Beach to Barracks Precinct Walk\, past Old Quarry Swamp\, fun uphill hike\. 7\. We walk the "Hanging Swamp" if not flooded\, past the Battery Observation Post\. 8\. Eventually reaching the Fairfax Walk Trail\, 2nd highest point\, "Yiningma Lookout"\. 9\. Fairfax Track\, again reaching Number one\! "Burragula Lookout"\. \(Fairfax Lookout\) 10\. Lunch/Snack break coming up at "North Head Scenic Drive Point"\. 11\. Quick visit\, "North Head Sanctuary"\, before heading to "Third Quarantine Cemetery"\. 12\. Zigzagging down to Manly for a refreshing drink/lunch at yes\! "Hotel Steyne" 13\. The Manly Markets are just in the right spot nearby\. **Meeting Point:** Manly Wharf Visitors Information Centre (near pedestrian crossing) **Distance:** 13km **Difficulty:** Moderate, steps and hills, classified moderate due to distance. **Walking Pace:** An easy steady pace at 4.25km-4.50 per hour. **What to Bring:** Comfortable outfit, a litre of water, snacks, hat, sunscreen, a raincoat just in case of wet weather. There are several, then Pyrmont to the newly opened Fish Markets, via Glebe through Lilyfield to Callan Park, then along the Iron Cove River to Rozelle and finally Balmain East for the ferry ride back to the city 🌸⛱🌸 LUNCH: Sydney Fish Markets. This is not negotiable. 🌸🐌🌸 As this is a walking group, bikes, ebikes, scooters, escooters, and pogo sticks are not compatible or welcome. 🌸👣🌸 Grading for my walks: Easy: Mainly flat, suburban, loads of get out points, up to 14kms. Easy-Medium: some stairs, a few uneven surfaces, up to 15kms. Medium: Stairs, rocks, coastal beaches/sand, ups, downs, get out points limited, up to 17kms Medium-Hard: uneven surfaces, need to take extreme care and be hike fit. Few get out points. Tracks, uneven surfaces, steep inclinations and limited resources. 🌸👯♀️🌸 WALKING GUIDELINES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 🌸✍️🌸 Carry sufficient food and water (2 litres) for the expected conditions of the walk. Pls don’t separate from the group, unless you let someone know, preferably me. The waitlist is completely discretionary….reliable regulars will ALWAYS be included. 🆗……….If you are a no show, you will not be welcome to join a future walk with me. (It’s a courtesy kind of thing). If people are on the waitlist, it is also very inconsiderate. Magnificent Harbour Walk! - South Mosman Ferry Wharf to Spit Bridge 14KM
Sat, Jul 25, 11:50 PM**Magnificent Harbour Walk! - South Mosman Ferry Wharf to Spit Bridge 14KM** **This is one of the most scenic Harbour Walks in Sydney, with many great elements including new tracks to explore!**! **We** meet at **Circular Quay Wharf 4, Side A** by no later than **9:50AM** to catch **10:00AM ferry to South Mosman Ferry Wharf,** arriving 10:14AM. We make off through **Great Sirius Cove** and enter the Taronga Zoo Trail through to Bradleys Head. Taylors Bay and **Chowder Bay** follow, then it is out to **Middle Head** where we find **historical artillery gun emplacements,** tunnels and bunkers. There are fantastic views into the East Harbour, so we **stop at Middle Head here for our lunch break**. **MEMBERS MUST BRING LUNCH!** After lunch we skirt around naval base **HMAS Penguin**, and head down to **Balmoral Beach.** Up and over Wyargine Point, the route goes through Rosherville Park and **Chainman's Beach** before passing the **Parririwi Lighthouse**. WHALE DAY! Bondi Junction - Watsons Bay! 14KM Medium
Sun, Aug 9, 12:30 AMWe meet at **Bondi Junction Train Station, at Bus Stand F (easy to find)** by no later than **10:30AM** to commence our walk down to Bondi Beach. We check out Ben Buckler Point and a host of parks spread through Dover Heights and head through to **Watsons Bay** for lunch and clean bathrooms. **FOOD SHOPS AT LUNCH BREAK, BUT IT CAN GET BUSY SO MAYBE BRING A PACKED LUNCH.** We climb out of Watsons Bay via the Bluff walking track and skirt around **Naval Warfare Training Base Watson** to find South Head and the historic **Hornby Lighthouse**.
