This urban walk takes us from Artarmon Station through Artarmon Reserve, along the banks of Flat Rock Creek and onto the Saltpan Creek Trail. After a break at Tunks Park, we head over to and around Primrose Park before finishing at The Oaks Hotel for lunch. We will meet at 9.30am at Artarmon Station outside the Wilkes Cafe in Wilkes Ave. Turn right after descending the ramp from the station platform. Bring food/water to enjoy morning tea at Tunks park and we will finish the walk with lunch later on at the The Oaks Hotel. Buses leave for the city and Chatswood from across the road from The Oaks Hotel. A lovely but open walk so bring clothing suitable for sun, wind and rain as there’s not much shelter on the way. WHAT TO BRING. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, first aid kit and 2L water. DISCLAIMER. Your health and safety is our priority and we take care to minimize risk and avoid accidents and injuries. **SPARX SOCIAL** **New Friends, Big Conversations & Unexpected Fun** Have you ever noticed how making new friends as adults can be strangely difficult? That’s what this evening is all about. **Join us** for a relaxed and entertaining night featuring: ✨ Fun and interactive social games. ✨ A couple of short thought-provoking talks. ✨ Open Mic (share a story, idea, joke or life lesson if you’d like) ✨ Great conversation with friendly, welcoming people. No awkward networking. No sitting quietly in the corner. No expertise required. Just a room full of interesting people who are curious about life and open to making new connections. Whether you’re new to Midlife Sparx or have attended before, you’ll be warmly welcomed. Because some of the best friends we haven’t met yet are sitting in a room we haven’t walked into. 📅 **Thursday 2nd of July.** **📍 Barrel Below, 115 Clarence Street, Sydney.** **⏰ 6:30 PM.** **Come along.** Meet some great people. Movie & Buffet Dinner Night; VIP Private Screening of "500 DAYS IN THE WILD"

Movie & Buffet Dinner Night; VIP Private Screening of "500 DAYS IN THE WILD"

Sun, Jul 5, 5:15 AM
From OZ Outdoors
4.8

Social Event - Movie & Dinner Night; We have organised a VIP Private Screening of the award winning movie; "500 DAYS IN THE WILD". The 2-hour documentary weaves together adventure, personal reflections, stunning wildlife, and human connection on the rigorous and beautiful TCT Trail, stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific Coast, as well as the Arctic Ocean. 500 Days in the Wild dives deeply into both the physical and emotional travails of tackling an almost impossible adventure. 500 Days surprises with cinematic action, intimate experiences, and visual poetry. 500 Days In The Wild follows the epic 6-year journey of filmmaker Dianne Whelan as she sets out to reconnect with nature and become the first person to travel the world's longest trail. The 24,000 km Trans Canada Trail stretches across the continent of North America, connecting the Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific oceans. It is the longest trail in the world. For six years filmmaker Dianne Whelan traveled the entirety of the land and water trails, the only person to ever accomplish this journey. 500 Days (which is 12,000 hours) in the Wild recounts Dianne's journey by bike, canoe, skis, snowshoes and on foot and her cross-cultural visits with those who live close to the land. This feature doc culled from 800 hours of footage is an intricate weave of adventure film, personal reflection and stunning captures of wildlife and landscapes. Using humour, adventure, beautiful cinematography and a great soundtrack (including songs from Joni Mitchell, First Aid Kit, Xavier Rudd, and The Tragically Hip), 500 Days in the Wild will entertain audiences and inspire hope for the future. She started out alone, disillusioned with state of the world, to look for different ways of caring for the land and for each other. She ended the journey a bit wiser, more hopeful, in love and with a passion to share this story with you. This is an unforgettable journey and an unforgettable film. WARNING: You may want to quit your job after watching this Inspiring, Intimate & Incredible Movie based on a True Adventure Story - A MUST SEE. \# Details * Rated CTC * Runtime 120 minutes * Genre Documentary * Director Dianne Whelan * Actors Dianne Whelan, Louisa Robinson * Language English * Country Canada * Awards Winner - Grand Prize VIMFF, Winner - Best Film World Trail Film Festival, Winner - Best Film Nordic Adventure Film Festival, Winner - Audience Award - Victoria Film Festival. 500 DAYS IN THE WILD TRAILER; [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-0XhbQwerI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-0XhbQwerI) We will start with the Movie, followed by an award winning Vegetarian all you can eat buffet dinner & then you can do an optional Kirtan Mantra Meditation. **Are you looking for a bit of adventure? This might be the walk for you!** **We will start at Waterfall Train Station.** **From here we will follow the track to the Forest Walk, a shady track that makes its way around Forest Island. On our way, there is only one moderate climb and one creek crossing where we might get wet feet if there has been significant recent rain. Forest Island is a sheltered rainforest ecological environment with ferns, palms, mosses, and creek scenery to admire. At the end, we will have a break at the Palona Picnic Area.** **From here, we will make our way to Palona Cave. We will explore the cave, a large limestone overhang featuring columns, stalactites and a little waterfall (a bit of scrambling will probably be required if you’d like to explore the waterfall). We will have lunch here.** **Then we'll return to Lady Carrington Drive, which is the first scenic route to be built through the National Park. It follows the Hacking River and took 3 years to build, opening in 1886.** **This will take us to Audley, where there are toilets and a café. We will have another break here.** **There is no opportunity to exit the walk until we reach Audley.** **From Audley, we ascend the Honeymoon Track up to Rawson Parade Track then on to finish at Loftus Train Station.** **We will aim to finish by 3.30pm, from where we can catch a train back to Sydney.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISTANCE: Around 20 km.** **GRADE: Medium, Grade 3.** **NOTE: Only get-out point is at Audley by Uber.
