Come explore your embodied expression in this joyful hour of somatic and vocal exploration and experimentation. We will play with vocal improvisation, relaxation of the body, deep listening, traditional somatic practices and connection with the inner sounds waiting to be expressed! We begin with stretches, breathing exercises, and vocal warm ups to relax the body and open the flow of expression. We then move to a playful voice exploration, creating a safe and brave space to play with voice and movement as tools for healing and expression as a group, including unpitched sounds. We will explore and be silly with the curiosity of the inner child. The workshop concludes with a group voice and movement improvisation, bringing us directly into Drone Lab where you can play with and implement what you’ve learned. Bring a water bottle and wear clothes for movement and dance. ### Drone Lab + Open Projector An ambient music jam with big-screen visuals in a beautiful space. Play, vocalize, project, or just lean back and enjoy. Bring your gear - synths, laptops, instruments, pedals - and plug in, or play the venue's. Visual artists, VJs, and live coders: bring your laptop and project. Sign-up slots for visuals. Sound makers just drop in. Watch, listen, and let the room shape what emerges. Part performance, part sound meditation, part jam. Bearded Twin provides a foundation of drone and visuals. We've heard a lot about this event, and the Harry Potter DroneArt Show is finally coming to NYC! 1200 illuminated drones create images from Harry Potter during an hour-long show, with live music and everything! And dress warmly because Randall's Island gets freezing at night. I have renewed our Saturday Year 'Round listing. We play every Saturday year 'round as long as it is at least 34 degrees and the courts are dry. This is a competitive tennis group requiring a certified rating of at least 3.0. We do not accept beginners. Saturday sessions are limited to eight (8) players plus a ninth designated reserve player, and we will have a waiting list. Check the "comments" section for the starting time each week, which will either be 11 AM in colder weather, or 10 AM as the weather heats up. Bring your tennis permit, a new can of balls and a positive attitude. Every member in good standing is invited as long as you register by midnight of the prior day, you are fully vaxxed, and you rate at least 3.0.

Ever since, I've navigated the world in a wheelchair, relearning what it means to be a New York father, Google Maps engineer, and athlete. Despite the challenges, though, I've more frequently found gratitude, purpose, and even joy in the vast, strong community of people with disabilities. Gratitude for all we've accomplished in the last half-century, and both purpose and joy in working with disabled folk and allies to extend those gains.
